Before a game I was watching the over day they were talking about dunks over the crossbar which is 10 feet. Of course they mentioned Jimmy Graham and Tony Gonzalez. They showed Brees failing at an attempt, but didn't show the one he did succeed at a couple years earlier, and he is only 6 foot.
They talked about the origins of it, and said it started with Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson as the first player to ever dunk it. They showed a clip of him talking about it saying he didn't know what to do after scoring the td so he just dunked it, there was no footage of him doing it in 75 that I can find but a newspaper article said it nicked the cross bar and his first successful one was in 1977. Before this the talks of the first dunk was by him in 1979 against the Rams in the playoffs.
The first to successfully do it was Roger Carr

So while Henderson may have been the first to attempt it (although some say Carr may have done it in 75 as well) Carr was the first guy to do it successfully.
Pretty sure he didn't get the idea from Henderson because when asked about it he said "I’d made other catches, sure, but that day told me that I belonged. That’s why I spiked the ball. When I crossed the goal line, I felt as though I’d busted through.
