I don't get the meaning of this thread nor video of Ken Norton blasting out Duane Bobick? I remember this fight well. I was about 7 yrs old and wanted Bobick to win, mainly becuase he was hyped as the next white hope. When Ken crushed him I was in fowl mood for over a week. Saturday Night Live made fun of Bobick, with some skit called "why white men should not fight" I remember this also pissed me off. I know if Evander Holifield got KO'd in this prime by a white, no such skit would ever surface. Just the on going esmasculation of the white man in America.

Hughrenassle(what does this mean?) could please explain this new tread and the vid that accompanied it. As a side note, I have always liked Ken Norton and always rooted for him after this fight. I remember win he was screwed out of a decision against over rated Ali in Yankee Stadium. He should have won that fight. Anyways I suspect that I am not going to like the answer.

There have been a lot of defining moments in boxing. This defining moment is thirty years old.

Hughrenasshole is a very uncreative, and desperate, troll.

Hockaday, I suspected that. If he would have put Mariciano clobbering Joe Louise(who was only 36 yrs old at the time)it would have made more sense.

Sure that was a vicious KO by Norton, but Bobick was some sorry white guy who did not get himself into shape nor move his head enough. This video is his attempt to keep whites in there place, but he knows in the words of the great Bob Dylan, "These times are a changing".

Certainly this moron knows that all the great/good black fighters are being picked off one by one, with the exception of PBF. His time is coming though.

I wonder how this person felt about Pavlik's second victory against Taylor. Boy, how I want Joe C. Wales to send Bopkins into retirement with a vicious beating!

Bobick was a fine fighter who even beat the great Teofilo Stevenson as an amatuer.

Watch the fight with Norton again and you'll see Bobick taking an uppercut to the throat. Thats what took it out of him.

yeah, agreed: Norton got robbed by crooked judges when he fought Ali the next 2x after the first.

Oh, you mean, it wasn't the fact that Bobick showed little movement and offered no jabwhatsoever even before he was ever hit? That had nothing to do with it at all, huh? Oh, really? Man, you'd make a fine press secretary for the next "elected" elite sleazebag.

this fight was a demolition. a complete destruction of a human being.

this is what made watching boxing in the 70s, as a young white kid, so difficult. you had to naturally feel inferior as a white boy in the 70s, because of the tricks don king was playing, and because of the stupidity of white people for falling for those tricks.

setting up this poor bumpkin bobick with a bunch of cream puff starter fights, and then suddenly pitting him against "the black hercules" as Norton was then known, was like sending a puppy out to fight a wild black panther. oh, the humanity of it all.

I really dont get the point of this thread...probably because there is none. I've never seen a more pointless and foolishly-timed troll attack. Haha, if you honestly think that this fight defined boxing, you're living in a dreamworld.

The reality that you need to wake up to is simple....whites are beating black american fighters like the bums they are, and the bums they've always been. If the half-wit white male population in america werent increbidly brainwashed into feeling inferior, they'd be killing your precious black buddies much worse than the non-emasculated fighters from eastern europe.

PS - Wait until Klitschko gets to fight the world's final black hope in the HW division, Sam Peter (assuming he gets past Maskaev, that is).Edited by: Thrashen

A) Norton was 75 years old by then,

B) Judging by the other "young cooney" fights, that fight too may have been fixed. (read the thread of responses here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJo5qu_hJfMand you will see I'm not the only one who holds this opinion.)

C) Norton was never once knocked off his feet by Cooney.

Hughren-ass, you are probably a blk who can't stand current reality, so you fish out a video of a prime Ken Norton almost killing a mediocre fighter in Bobick. Like if its going to change whats happean now.

Look, the only blk fighter worth his gloves is Sam Peter and he was beat and almost KO'd at the end of his fight Wlad. Talk about dirty fighting, watch that fight and see how many times Peter hit Wlad on the back of his head.

Again what current purpose does your thread address?

1. Norton was 35 and only 3 years removed from a very close split decision loss to Larry Holmes for the heavyweight title when Cooney starched him.

2. Cooney KO'd Norton in 52 seconds! He was out on his feet and Gerry would literally have killed Norton if the ref had not stepped in to save his life. I loved the way "Mandingo" was drooling and blinking his eyes with a blank expression on his face after the ref pulled Gerry off him.

3. Cooney had just dispatched black hopes like Ron Lyle and Jimmy Young in similar fashion.

4. Norton was on his knees in the corner and couldn't stand up for several minutes after the fight.

5. Watch the fight. Anyone who thinks it is fixed is just mad because blacks can't hang with whites in boxing or any other fighting sport.

6. Try not to laugh when you see the look on Norton's face. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8Fb0Qidm9Fg

You'll notice the guy making those fix allegations was basically laughed off the board when he couldn't answer the question of why if it was fixed, would Young stand and allow half his face to be ripped off instead of falling down and taking the count?

Its even more hilarious than Jack Johnson's claims to "throwing" his fight to Willard .

Dear god, somebody delete this pointless thread ASAP. Threads like these take away from arguments that are actually valid.

I was waiting for you guys to beat him up a little bit. He comes on here once in a while with the same crap just to get slapped around. Which he did in this case. It's a win-win situation. The troll gets the abuse he craves and you guys get to do a little verbal sparring.

Watch this video, I've named it "Who's crying now" after an old song. Look what happens after the fight:

Who's crying now

Times have changed since the 70s...

Back again troll? I don't know why you always come back. You could take your bad breath to blackathlete.commie and join the dummies. This site is an island, a refuge from the limp-wristed liberal media; and it is giving you hemeroids seeing us tear up the junk that is presented as facts.

Sure blacks dominated in boxing in the '70s, so what? They didn't have anyone else to fight against then and now they do. And now they face reality: there is an entire planet of boxers fighting professionally now. Deal with it.Edited by: Maple Leaf

Bobick had a tendency to freeze in the early part of big fights. He did it again against John Tate two years after the Norton bout.
