The three wide receivers that we support the most as of right now in Division IA are Mike Haas,Jeff Samardjza and David Anderson.Currently they are all in the top receivers in the nation.Haas is number one by a land slide,Jeff is currently ranked 8th in the nation, and Anderson after a slow start has moved up to 17th in receiving yards per game. The are all averaging over 100 yards per game! All three of these guys will be the ones to watch very soon on Sundays.Haas and Anderson should both be high draft picks.Jeff will probably come back for his senior year at Notre Dame.Hopefully by seasons end, they will all be in the top 5 or 10 in the country.Keep it up guys!

Hass will get drafted on the first day, it's just a question of when. He's an obvious first rounder but he might not get drafted until the second or third. Anderson should go on the first day too, but when you see record breaking receivers like John Standeford go undrafted, it's tough to say right now. Anderson will be a great asset to any team smart enough to draft him. Samardjiza will have another season at ND to build up his credentials.

He is going to be a HOFer before its all said and done. That's if he doesn't play baseball. This guy should get votes for best athlete of all time.Edited by: JoeV

A guy that is not used enough or properly is Matt Miller of Arizona State. He runs a 10.4 - 10.5 in the 100 meters. He is one of the fastest receivers in the nation yet they rarely throw the ball his way.I've seen him play for several years and he is always open.He had two touchdowns last week and I almost fainted. They finally threw him the ball! You should see this kid run. There are very few corners in the nation that can cover him.I wonder if any NFL Team will even invite him to the combine. He should have been an All American if they just would got him the ball more!

Two of the three receivers had good games today.David Anderson had 7 catches for 96 yards.Jeff Samardzija had 7 catches for 127 yards and a touchdown. The nations leader Mike Haas had 5 catches for 48 yards in a battle of field goals.I will update will they are all at on the national leader board tommorow.I'm hoping that Samardzija will move into the top 5 with Mike Haas still staying at number one.Anderson will probably be around 15th I'm guessing. The best thing is that all 3 teams will be going to a Bowl Game!

The official list is out.I was close on my predictions of where the big three would be.Haas is number one in the nation in receiving with 142 yards per game.Jeff Samardzija is 6th with 110 yards per game.David Anderson comes in as I expected at 15th in the nation. Not too bad for the big three!Keep it up guys.

I sure am going to miss these guys on Saturday Afternoons but hopefully they will all be stars on Sundays.Jeff Samardzija has one year left while Haas and Anderson are heading to the NFL we hope. They both might be playing in their final college games as Oregon State and Col.State need one more win in their final games to possibly make a Bowl Game.I wish them the best of luck.

I second that white lightning! I hope these guys get into bowls so they can showcase their talent one more time before going Pro.

Right before the season started, Mel Kiper had John Madsen of Utah among his top 5 receivers for '05. Madsen is a senior, 6-5 and 220 lbs. Through 9 games he has 55 catches for 672 yards and 6 TDs. Not spectacular numbers, but I've seen a lot of black receivers with lesser numbers get drafted in the first three rounds. If he has the hands and speed to go with his size, Madsen would seem to be just the kind of pro prospect that scouts wouldget excited about-- if they were colorblind.

Too bad for Madsen that he messed up his ankle last week and won't be playing against BYU this week. Their coach talked about how is their best receiver on TV the other day, but I cringed when he qualified the statement with (best as far as production).

What the helk do these guys say blatently offensive things like that for, and about their best players. I think its pathetic.

Indeed. Physically he should be exactly what they want. Tall, muscular, and he even has those narrow hips that supposedly only blacks have.

Oh, but he doesn't have that one thing: black skin.

Another receiver who should play in the NFL is Ed Hinkel of Iowa. His statistics are down this year but he's having a huge game today for Iowa against Minnesota -- 6 catches for 148 yards and 3 TDs in the 3rd quarter of a Hawkeyes blowout. He has good size, excellent speed and great hands. There's no question he can succeed in the NFL if given the opportunity.

Give Hinkel four touchdown catches today. He broke his arm a month ago and had surgery and is back to full speed after missing three games. The home crowd has been chanting "Eddie, Eddie." A lot of football fans are dying for white receivers and running backs to cheer for. When will I-A and the NFL end this absurd, decades-long Jim Crow segregation era?

What a game by Hinkel. You have to love Iowa because they are one of the few Div IA Schools to consistantly give white receivers a chance.Tim Dwight,Kevin Kasper and now Hinkel.Ed Hinkel is a very gifted player who can also return punts and kickoffs.Let's hope that the NFL gives him a legitimate shot.He has earned it.What a incredible performance by him today!

Mike Haas has had another amazing year.He has ended his season with a incredible average of 139.3 yards per game. It's really sad that he won't be in a Bowl Game but he led the nation in receiving by a landslide.Congratulations to him as now it's on to the NFL Combine.

David Anderson played his final regular season game for the Rams which they won.He had 90 yards receiving and is now up to 12th in the nation.Good job David. They are waiting to see what Bowl they will play in.

Jeff Samardzija is up to 11th in the nation in receiving.Notre Dame plays Stanford next week and I really hope he has another monster game. The big 3 are all in the top 12 in the country in receiving yards per game. They all have played outstanding.Edited by: white lightning

Hass and Samardjiza are two of the three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award (the third is some guy named Demetrius, heh heh.) Hass should be a shoe-in.

It's great to see two thirds of the finalists are white(Hass and Samardijiza) so its good to see the media didn't F up that one. Though knowing the voters they'll proabably just hand it off to Dwayne Jarrett. Hass gets my vote and if he wins it this year and then Samardijza comes back and wins it next year that would be incredible. Two white guys winning WR of the year in a row.

I agree whiteCB. On another note, with Samardjiza having a huge game against Stanford,he moved into the 4th leading receiver in the nation.Haas is 1st and David Anderson finished 12th. Samardijza should actually be 3rd because one guy in 3rd only played 1 game all year so it's not fair to put his average yards receiving per game above Jeffs.Samardijza is going to be another Matt Jones in the NFL!

Yeah I think that great game by Samardijza just might have put him on top for the Biletnikok. It always sticks in the media's head when a player has a great game in late November that leads his team to an important victory. Jeff probably just won the award with that perfomance Saturday night. Also I loved the Fouts quote(even though I dispise Fouts)"people talk about Samardijiza'a great hands and leaping ability but they forget to throw in there his great breakway speed as we just saw on that 80 yr catch". Gee I wonder why they always leave out his great speed. lol

Well, what a year it has been for white receivers! Mike and Jeff and Tulsa TE Garrett Mills are 1,4, and 5 in receiving in the country! If this doesn't help break stereotypes, I don't know what will. I think all three of these guys will have a great impact in the NFL when they get there. David Anderson finished sort of slow, but was still ranked 15'th overall. These guys helped make this one exciting year of football. I also give credit to guys like Matt Shelton at Notre Dame, and TE Johnny Harline at BYU. There are many more I could list, but I'll save that for someone else.

We need him in the NFL, but looking at it realistically MLB does seem like his best option because of the factors you mention. What would be really neat is if he decides tobecome a two-sport star. The media wouldn't know what to do then, other than hoping he flops in both.

No way Jeff better go in the NFL. He could be the next Randy Moss with their similar statures and leaping ability. How great would it be to have Samardijza gop to the NFL and just completly dominate and become a regular pro bowler.

I agree.Jeff has to stay in football.I really think that he will because of the excitment and adrenaline rush.Baseball just can't compare with catching td's.I hope he can help lead them to the Nat'l Title next year.
