Ted Williams Mexican -American heritage

I have always thought of myself a knowledgeable person when it came to baseball. I just found out I didn't know a lot about Ted Williams the game greatest hitter. PBS is releasing a documentary on the life of Williams and his Mexican heritage. It will tell how he shun his heritage and kept his family history a secret. This just floored me as I felt I knew baseball well. Did anyone else on CF know this and how did you find out?

I always knew, even back as a boy in the late 60s when I was a big baseball fan, that Williams had some Spanish-Mexican heritage.

Not a big deal, Spaniards are mostly White people and he doesn't appear to have a drop of American Indian heritage.

Williams was a great hitter, but I'd rate Ty Cobb as the absolute best ever.

I knew his mother was of Mexican extraction.

His mother was described as full blooded Spaniard, his brother who was a bit of a low life was a "greaser" who was affiliated with early biker gang culture and was a member of a Mexican American gang.

Note these gangs were more bar fighter types than straight up drug dealing, contracting killing pyscho's that you see today.

Williams always felt that if his Mexican/Spanish ancestry was known he wouldn't have been the accepted star that he was back in the 40's through early 60's.

I was aware of Ted Williams' part Mexican (but all White) heritage. I wasn't aware that it was some kind of wicked, dark secret.

There are white Mexicans, there are brown Mexicans, and there are black Mexicans. However, when it comes to Mexicans and race, since the "mainstream" media parrot the delusional racial fantasies of the Council of La Raza instead of telling the truth, the existence of white Mexicans (and sometimes black Mexicans as well) is often simply denied.

It's also interesting (meaning "not at all surprising") that (((PBS))) is choosing to make a biography of Ted Williams that focuses on RACE RACE RACE, rather than the accomplishments of the man I consider to be the second greatest baseball player of all time, behind only Babe Ruth.

In this Orwellian society we live in, next we'll probably hear that Desi Arnaz and Yasiel Puig are of the same race because they're both Cuban.

Ted Williams was White, period. The fact is that there have been White Mexicans in this country going back a long time, also Spaniards. It wasn't an issue until the fake news media more or less invented "hispanics" as an ethnic/racial group, which they are not, it is purely a linguistic and geographical designation. Calling someone "hispanic" is no different than calling someone "American" will be in a few more generations, absolutely meaningless from a racial perspective given current demographic trends.
