<DIV =title>Swine Flu Is Deadly Mix Of Never-Before-Seen Viruses
Swine flu panic is spreading in Mexico and soldiers are patrolling the streets after it was confirmed that human to human transmission is occurring and that the virus is a brand new strain which is seemingly affecting young, healthy people the worst, and that the bug is a never-before-seen intercontinental mixture of human, avian and pig viruses from America, Europe and Asia.

<DIV =title>Venture capital firm set to reap rewards on swine flu
The swine flu outbreak is likely to benefit one of the most prolific and successful venture capital firms in the United States: Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Thomson Reuters Private Equity Week reported on Friday.

Shares of the two public companies in the firm's portfolio of eight Pandemic and Bio Defense companies -- BioCryst Pharmaceuticals (BCRX.O) and Novavax (NVAX.O) -- jumped Friday on news that the swine flu killed a reported 60 people in Mexico and has infected people in the United States.

<DIV =title>Container of swine virus explodes on Swiss train
A container of flu virus samples packed in dry ice exploded on a Swiss train, injuring one person but posing no other risks to humans, police said on Tuesday. The box held vials of swine flu virus, although a different strain than the H1N1 variety that has caused about 150 deaths in Mexico and infected people in the United States, Canada, Spain and Britain.

<DIV =title>Flu Kills The Torture Memos
Every major media outlet has reported the fact that US/UK bioterrorists have been manipulating the avian flu virus in university and Army labs. This new flu strain, one that 'no one has ever seen,' contains avian flu. Now, how does *that* happen?

It's just the flu isn't it? Seems like a manufactured hysteria to convince more people to give the government more power.

Couldn't agree with jaxvid more. More government scare tactics. Consider that shortly after this flu broke out they already had a vaccine ready. How could they come up with a vaccine so quickly if they did not cultivate this flu themselves.

The government does a flu scare every few years to keep remind the sheeple that they need the government to keep them safe.

This is not an endorsement or advice, just information. Can good ole sunshine (vitamin D) fight off the flu?

I might be sent to the penalty box by some for posting a Pat Robertson video. The video does consider the possible benefits of vitamin D including flu protection and boosting athletic performance.

Glad to know this because I have been taking a vitamin A&D supplement every day for two years now.

Gentlemen,

If your not mexican or another form of hispanic, you're not in the core group that is getting this thing. don't worry about it. You'll be fine.

If the source is of the illness is Mexico and its as bad as their making out then they need to close the border asap. But they will never do that,so it will most likely find its way into the general US population and affect everyone including non hispanics.

its another good reason why we should build a border. illegal immigrants are coming into this country with god knows what and spreading it to americans.

Iron,

I don't think so Iron. The thing is that Anglos don't live like mexicans. It's the way they live that makes them suceptable to many diseases we don't get. They live in filthy conditions that breed these virus' and we don't. Therefore it'll remain in that element of people.

Well the Robertson piece stated that darker skinned folks are more susceptible to lower vitamin D exposure. Could it be that we have yet another genetic advantage over the barbarians?

P.S., don't eat in any Mexican restaurants, don't go to the DMV if you can help it, do not go into a social security/welfare office and stay away from garage sales and you will be fine.

Great line there, C Darwin!

Gueast301, here is a contrary view on taking a Vitamin A and D supplement when the Vitamin A is excessive. The thought is that Vitamin A can interfere with D. You just never know with these things. Every year there seems to be new or varying opinions on the effectiveness of this or that supplement. Anyway it's additional info for consideration. It was useful for me, as I cut out Vitamins A supplementation and only use D.

Why Vitamin A May Not Be as Useful

As scientific findings about vitamin D's health benefits race forward at breakneck speed, another issue has surfaced â€" the synergistic effects of vitamin A on vitamin D. More specifically, how people in developed countries are potentially sabotaging the multitude of health benefits they could receive from adequate vitamin D, by taking excessive amounts of vitamin A, either in the form of multi-vitamins or cod liver oil.
