Just wanted to let everyone know that almost everyone we root for is running this weekend.Matt Shirvington is running in the 100 & 200,Nic Macrozonaris(100),Andrey Yepishin(100),Matic Osovnikar(100),John Woods(100),Tobias Unger(200),D.Kuc(100),C.Blum(100)and of course Jeremy Wariner in the 200 meters.

Add to that you have freshman Michael LeBlanc coming off his wind legal 10.17 running in the finals of the NCAA Championships!Wouldn't it be great if he wins and is the fastest college kid in the US!Go Michael.

Matic Osovnikar ran a 10.24 to beat Andrey Yepishin (2nd, 10.32) and John Woods (4th, 10.35). A solid time for Matic, but I would like to see more out of Yepishin and Woods. Igor Gostev who is a 1985 d.o.b. ran a 10.34 in the final to improve his p.b. and take 3rd place.

Christian Blum also ran a 10.33 into a very strong headwind to win the 100 race in Germany and finished 2nd in the 200 in 20.85!Tobias Unger won the 200 meters in a time of 20.47!

I'm glad to hear about Igor Gotsev.Another young guy with alot of potential to keep an eye on.

Osovnikar & Yepishin are off to a very slow start along with Darius Kuc.Hopefully they can get it going.From what I've heard,John Woods has a knee injury and he might not compete the rest of the year.If he was running hurt,he still ran a respectable time.I can't list my source but I'm pretty sure his season is over.It's really sad being it's so close to the US National Championships and the Worlds in August.

I just wanted to post a few more european guys who have been running fast 200 meter races.

Johann Wissman ran a 20.40 in a win.His fellow countrymen from Sweden Marco Cribari ran a 20.54 and he was born in 1985 so he is very young.Marek Niit of Estonia set a new national record running a 20.69!He is only 19 years of age.Marcin Jedrunski is solid as usual and Tobais Unger is back in full force.'

I think that both Wissman and Unger will have a great chance to make a final at the World Championships.I would love to see one of these guys get down close to the 20 second flat range.Good luck to all of these guys as the summer season continues.

got to see him at the end of the race and he was awesome with his kick.

They asked Mottram in his interview how he can run so fast.He said it takes a guy with big balls to run like that as he laughed.It is a joy to watch this guy run.He never backs down from a challenge.He is so big and tall compared to everyone on the track.Craig proves that there isn't only one body type for the distance running.I belive he will win one or two golds at the World Championships.

Thanks for the list JTJTJT. I really thought that Pickering would have already run faster but he will next season. Craig just barely turned 21 recently. He has time on his side.

Wariner was simply incredible. He is the best sprinter on the planet. The guy just cannot be beat when he is running sub 44's like a morning jog.

Next year we should see some more major break throughs. Do you have any predictions?

There were good white sprinters in 110 hurdles but I don't know the times off the top of my head.

Alan Webb ran an 800 in 1:43.

How about Tsatoumas the Greek long jumper. Didn't he have the top mark in the world this year.

We kind of forgot about him because he got injured before the world championships.

In response to you white lightning from 10-8, I think if the top 100m white sprinters can somehow finish the last 50m as strong as the first 50m then 10.0 will be broken for sure. Notice how in all the10.1 timesthe white sprinter is leading at 50m but get blown away the last 30m or so? I really dont know why...... Do whites usually do better at 60m indoors vs 100m?

I think the top whites have better acceleration out of the blocks IMO, b/c of stronger quads, but the top blacks run a little more gracefully b/c of longer legs on average and longer high calves. I think the top blacks can hold their top speeds for longer b/c of this.

Having said that; we are going to see a sub 10 white man in the next 10 years or so I feel it. Maybe Pickering or Yepishin, and hopefully they'll do it clean which is quite a feat!

You have to realize that their are whites with long legs too. One of my best friends is 6 inches taller than me but sitting down we are the same height. He is all legs and calves and he is white. He can also dunk from about 1 foot inside the free throw line.

I believe that whites just don't know how to properly relax as good as the black sprinters. You can only run all out for around 60 meters or so. Then it is about relaxing and trying to maintain your speed through to the finish line. The smoother you run, the faster the times. Craig Pickering and Michael LeBlanc have the best chance as of right now to be the first due to their times and their youth. They are still kids but running world class times.

I think that is an interesting theory. Really the 60 meter dash has maintained a white presence, yet aside from last year a white sprinter hadn't made a final in 20 years. Pickering seemed to be different early in the season as he closed well and looked like he had a lot in the tank. I think the season ground him down. Next year will be intersting to see if he can build on his base.

Good point about Pickering. Early in the season he was running people down the the ped fed C.Lewis used to back in the 80's - 90's. His closing speed was incredible. He had so many bad starts but just ate up the track. I can't wait to see how Pickering progresses going into next year. He also will be able to handle his nerves a little better with a year racing at the senior level under his belt. Let's hope for amazing things with the Olympics up next summer.
