We are still at war. You would think it would get a passing mention. There are alot of soldiers watching the game and listening to it on armed forces radio. They are the forgotten ones sometimes.

Yeah, Neville and Aretha Franklin butchered that song. Black singers are like black athletes, they're all about showing off. I recently saw Carrie Underwood (the blonde girl from American Idol) sing the Anthem and she did a fine job. Just sing the song.

By the way, has anybody seen Horatio Sanz's (comedian from Saturday Night Live) impersonation of Neville? It's dead on! He's really not exaggerating at all. Edited by: JD074

I would suppose people watching around the world might get the idea
that the US is the most prosperous black country on the planet, with all
the attention and center stage space afforded these noble people.

The anthem reminded me of a "Simpsons" episode in which "Bleeding
Gums Murphy", a black jazz musician, sings the anthem at a baseball
game. It takes him almost half an hour and the crowd is falling asleep. It
was funny to see because it was so true to life - "Murphy" was mangling
the anthem as well as taking so long to get through it.

Neville, Aretha and Stevie aren't missing many meals, that's for sure. I
feel that the pre-show "extravaganza" with Stevie Wonder and others
singing Motown hits should have had better visuals - you know, images
of burned out Detroit, crime, riots, floating across screen during the
tunes. (I am originally from Detroit so I am well aware of the contributions
of blacks to this once great town)

Katrina victims, Coretta Scott King, the old commie-fraud-jewtool Rosa
Parks...

Are they pushing the Superbowl into February to make sure it coincides
with "Black History Month"? WIll October be made "Hispanic" history
month, with MLB making sure latino stacked teams are in the Fall Classic?
Or will they extend the MLB season into November, make that Hispanic
history month, and overshadow a hideously "White" holiday like
Thanksgiving?

I'm getting way off the beam. The anthem was darn close to being, if not
being, the most pathetic rendition yet at a championship sporting event.
The "elites' ram it down our throats 24/7, I'll give them that.

I never heard it, thank God. I was channel surfing with the set on mute. I saw (chunky) Aretha and Aaron and the gospel chorus but never heard it.

If you've heard one deliberately obnoxious,preachy,whiny,shrill,bombastic,abomination-of-sing ing,black racist version of The National Anthem,YOU'VE HEARD THEM ALL!!!!

Thank Jose Feliciano for all of that.Game 5,1968 World Series.How appropriate,that the hateful,disembowlings of the Star Spangled Banner,by racist non-Whites,should begin that satanic year.

It doesn't matter who built something, it only matters who is left in the end. That's what our society is telling us these days. We never hear of any credit being given to our founding Fathers anymore. They are belittled and mocked.

But did anyone watch The Simpsons episode where Krusty the Clown tries to sing the SSB before a hockey game?

Then the rest of the words and melody escape him, to the predictable. If only he hadn't turned down those cue cards ...

One night a few years ago I had a nightmare in which the SSB was played on a horror-movie type organ.

And never forget Springfield's blind black blues singer, Bleeding Gums Murphy's 27 minute version of TSSB before a minor league game.Dead On!

As to the horror movie organ - it would still sound better than any black abomination version.Any day.
