Super Bowl!!!

The Super Bowl is here. You have the Patriots
trying to build a dynasty with their third win. They are a
corporate team, usually playing the players that just manage to get the
job done the best. They do not care about flashiness, and they
operate under the "there is no I in team" philosophy. They play
many players both ways sometimes, and players rarley do commercials by
themselves. Bill Belichick is the twenty first century's answer
to Tom Landry.

You have the Eagles, a team that is the exact
opposite of the Patriots. They are built on individual efforts,
and flashiness. Where Brady is a quarterback that relies on
consistency and gets the job done, McNabb relies on throwing deep,
running, and is overrated because of this. McNabb is an excellent
athlete, but is not as fast as the media says he is. T.O. is a
receiver built on individualism who always needs to be in the
spotlight. Is he playing?

It was great to see Chad Lewis have two touchdown catches, even if his behavior afterwards wasn't anything to brag about. He's near the end of a solid career and is the only Eagles player I could root for. And now he's out of the Super Bowl. Who's left? Guess I'll have to root for Hank Fraley to have a good game.

Unlike last year's Super Bowl, it's easy to root for one team over the other.

I could've done without it, but I have to admit it was somewhat
funny when he pointed at the Skycam. It didn't come across as
"black" to me though. Maybe a rambunctious frat boy or
something like that. He wasn't dancing or taunting players/
fans. I would prefer white players act with "quiet dignity," but
I've seen worse.

T.O. is not cleared by a doctor to play. I
doubt T.O. will play in the Super Bowl because it could cause him to
lose some money next season, that he needs. I think Owens cares
more about next season's 4 million dollar contract than a Super
Bowl.

I am being too harsh here perhaps. One does
not want to risk a career for one game, even if it is the most
important game in your life. However, I think T.O. needs some of
Curt Schilling in him. He could play with pain. Does Owens
know the difference between being hurt and injured?

I think it would be great to see Ted Johnson somehow
play a great game. The guy is at the end of his career. I
think it would be nice to see old backups get to go in and play well in
the Super Bowl. Maybe Matt Chatham will get in and play
well. Maybe Kevin Kasper will have a great game and get in due to
a miracle.

Whether T.O. plays or not, we can be sure he will be the center of attention in the pre-game shows and the actual Super Bowl, just as the boring "will he or won't he play" routine is the main focus of attention right now. If he doesn't play, there will be endless reaction shots of him on the sidelines.

If you are looking for someone to cheer for on the Eagles Don,check-out Sam Rayburn their DT.He's not a starter but he gets good playing time and with the way some teams rotate their lineman non-starters can play a lot as well,so starting doesn't matter that much.Rayburn clogs the middle well and shows good speed as can get down the line in a hurry.He's very noticeable out there as in just about every game he will make a good play or two.He's No.91 and the type of player every team covets for their D-line.I don't know if he's a free agent at the end of the year,but if he is there should be a lot of interest from other teams.Are you paying attention Dallas?Another player to check out is former middle linebacker Mark Simenou.He's now their weak side linebacker and although he is hurt right now he maybe ready for the Super Bowl.Jerimiah Trotter plays the middle now because the eagles wanted a bigger body at that position since Simenou is somewhat undersized.Despite his size he runs well and can find the ballcarrier.No.53 Simenou got his chance to play with Philly because while with Atlanta there was too much of a logjam at the linebacker position.

Rayburn has looked good every time I've seen him play. Apparently Simoneau will be healthy for the game. Paul Grasmanis, another backup d-lineman, is also a good player. He has been injured at times, but is good enough to start for a lot of teams.

I've never liked the two-week wait for the Super Bowl. It's a week too long, especially when so much of the plot line revolves around such crap as the daily breathless reports on T.O. Will he play or not? Who cares?

The NFL and its ultimate game have been turned into a monster-sized mix of patriotism (of the worship-the-state variety), consumerism, entertainment and a sporting contest that gets hyped more every year. The Super Bowl will feature giant flags, support our troops signs, fighter jet flyovers, big names from the entertainment industry at halftime, super expensive commercials that are as anticipated and watched by the masses as the game itself, and oh yes, in between the endless commercial breaks the game itself. All of America's other holidays have long been commercialized (except for MLK Day); the Super Bowl is the king of them all.

As long as the Pats win, I could care less for what happens. I will be watching for the commercials, anyone remember the Tobasco Sauce commercial from about 5 years ago?

I'm going with Philly to win.Their zone blitzes might confuse the Patriots into some costly turnovers and that could be the difference in the game.

I think New England will win and the Eagles are
overrated. The Eagles offensively are far more vulnerable to the
defensive schemes of Bill Beilchick than the Patriots are to the
schemes of Andy Reid. Remember when everyone thought the Rams
offense was going to blow away the Patriots' defense. Not the
case. The Eagles are not consistent enough to win and rely on
occasional big plays to win games. The Patriots do not turn
the ball over much at all.

Look who the Eagles played in the regular
season. They played the Redskins, Giants, Cowboys, Lions, Browns,
etc. They played the Vikings and the Falcons in the
playoffs. They have beaten the sisters of the poor.

The Patriots have played and defeated the Steelers,
Jets, Colts, the Bills(who should have been in the playoffs), Rams,
Seahawks, etc. They have proven themselves against real
teams. The Eagles have had it easy. The Patriots defense
crushed the mighty Colts offense. What have the Eagles done?

eagles have a few good white player, raybourn will probably be a starter next season. simenou is finnaly coming into his own. jim johnson loves this guy. i have watch him play since his days at kansas state. he is a very athletic linebacker. i also like the fullback they ot this year he is great on recieving routes and blocking, however i would like to see them hand him the ball once in a while.

I am going to predict the final Super Bowl Score today.
I will go with the Patriots winning in a very close game
by a final score of 31-28.Brady will throw 3 td's,they
will run for one and kick one field goal.McNabb will
have his moments but won't get it done.If Brady does win
today,they will have to put him up there with Montana!
That would be 3 super bowl victories in 4 years.To do
that in todays day and age is amazing.Go Pats!!

That's exactly why I'm pulling for the Pats. We need another dynasty team, and for Tom brady to be in it. Hopefully one day soon, Peyton Manning will be involved in a dynasty, at least that's my hope.

Patriots win. Glad for that because the hype for McNabb would have been unsufferable. McNabb was miserable. His throws were rotten. He should have been picked off even more then he was. Talk about your fixes, the refs took an interception away from the Pats on a defensive penalty that was totally silly.

Evem though the Pats won, it still was a victory for the caste system. Everbody touching the ball was black except for Brady. Few white highlights and the announcers were their usual pro-black selves. Vrabel got another TD but its just a gimmick. How sad. They have no white guys to catch the ball but they'll bring a guy from the defense to do it.

It's patently absurd that Deion Branch won the MVP rather than Tom Brady. The two teams were closely matched in every area -- except at quarterback. Tom Brady was his usual brilliant self. The Patriots were reeling a bit through most of the first quarter and into the second. But then they took command of the game and never relinquished it even though it was always close. The difference in the game was Brady, who far outplayed McNabb.

Branch the MVP?? Might as well given it to Terrell Owens as Branch. Brady was the Man of the Hour again.

If the numbers for Brady and McNabb were reversed there is no question McNabb gets the MVP and Brady gets unrelenting criticism. As is was I did not hear any thing about Brady and little blame for McNabb.

I agree about brady also, I think Mike Vrabel was more deserving then branch, he had a sack, a couple of tackles, and a TD catch on offense, you can bet if troy brown would have had a sack and caught a td he would have been mvp. Edited by: cxt7

Good point about Vrabel. The AP mentioned Harrison as the MVP of the Pats defense but it seemed Vrabel and Brewski played better.

I do not think it is a victory for the caste
system. Several whites made important plays. Hochstein made
a crucial block. Vrabel made several plays. Bruschi
certainly is not black but had a great game and announcers commented on
his speed. Fauria definitely is not black and made the catch of
the game(even though it was on an onside kick).

Besides, the Patriots do not operate under the Caste
System philosophy. They have several blacks, but they have to
play to win. The reason they have many blacks is because the
Caste System affects big colleges that only develop black
players. Playing for a big college is often what makes NFL
players, NFL caliber.So by the time all the prospects are ready for the
draft, the most developed prospects are black. The Patriots prove
their point by eliminating TO mentality. Blacks like Troy
Brown(one of the most underrated players), David Patton, Roman Phifer,
and Kevin Faulk(yeah, he went to jail after the beating the Rams for
barfighting I think) are all quality guys. Even Corey Dillon was
forced to clean up his superstar and criminal mentality. I also
think Harrison can play football.

I agree. The Patriots rank right up there as being one of the least conforming to the Caste System. The Pats received Caste Football's third highest grade in reviewing each team early in the season. They have team-first quality players. They set a very good example. Still it's amazing - 9/11/01 occurred, and ever since the Patriots are unbeatable!

i think ted johnson took over at inside linebacker for phifer all season. and vrabel and bruschi and the heard and sould of the front seven. i feel if it wasn't for their pass rushing the sencondary would not have looked as well. also matt light did a great job of stoping javon kerse.

Vrabel has been denied MVP twice. It did not
even go to Bruschi, his counterpart. It was clearly not Branch,
he just had a good game. Bruschi and Vrabel had the game of their
lives, stopping the run really well. Bruschi normally is like a
giant defensive back as he is fast and covers the pass, but is weak
against the run when he is not blitzing. Belichick does a great
job of utilizing players and compensating for their weaknesses.
Today, Bruschi did not need fancy blitz schemes and became a power
linebacker. Look out Ray Lewis!!! The media will have to
give Bruschi publicity now and you will actually have to play well to
get credit.

The announcers did everything they could to make
Owens look good. He makes a good catch(they were many from many
players ), but the announcer screams, "Unbelievable!!!!" His
stats were also inflated. The TO hype made me sick. He is
the illness, but Brady is the cure.
