Here (http://www.csnphilly.com/pages/print_landing?blockID=762135) is a piece by long-time Philadelphia sportswriter Ray Didinger on the career of Steve Van Buren.
If you go to the Eagles website they have 4 minute video on Van Buren and Didinger doesn't mince words when he states Van Buren was the greatest back in Eagle history and either he or Bednarik is the greatest Eagle. The death of Van Buren is similar to the death of Ted Williams for baseball, that's the kind of star he was.

There are many generous tributes to Steve Van Buren today. In this (http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/n...His-Time/d7021275-91c7-4647-b503-68300e68a14e) one, current Eagle coach Andy Reid, not exactly a favorite at this Forum, said among other things:

"He was time-tested here. He could play in the National Football League today. I've had a chance to look at a lot of film of the old NFL and he's one of the guys that could have started today, in today's National football League."
