This is an interesting article about Mark Cuban's take on the New Jersey Nets (0-18):

Time for another trip down memory lane....
The year was 1999 (was 18 then) and I accidentally stumble into this televised Mavericks game (don't remember the opponent). Back then, I knew next to nothing about Nowitzki and Nash, and I was simply more interested in Jason Williams, and Keith Van Horn. What I saw was crazy....BOO...BOO...BOO! Yes, the boos were on Steve Nash. This interesting upstart was 0-8 from the field, and I saw no sign of this Nowitzki, save for string-bean center Shawn Bradley (who was playing quite well then). Dallas as quite a laughingstock in those days, losing was the norm for them. Then came the 2000-01 season, my frustrations with both J-Will and Van Horn led me to Steve Nash, who was having a breakout year, and eventually Dirk Nowitzki.
I then happened upon this televised Dallas game on a Saturday morning of 2001. It was the very first game I ever saw of Nowitzki, and by golly, was he one heck of a player (even then). Dude really could run the floor, and shoot the ball. He was actually at that point, much better than both Schrempf and Kukoc (even at the height of their careers). Dirk had about 20 points in that very game, including 4 triples. Nash was quietly brilliant for the most part. I didn't have much internet access back then, so I tried to keep on tabs with both Dirk and Nash through sports pages, and NBA Action (great to watch then).
After for sometime, that's when I saw the classic televised first-round Utah-Dallas clash. It was truly the passing of the torch series, Stockton to Nash & Nowitzki. Ever since that amazing upset by Dallas on Utah, both Dirk and Nash haven't looked back, and I have never stopped following them (in a casual sense). Never in my wildest (or anybody's) dreams would these two ever become MVP winners, and HOF candidates, in which they BOTH ARE. It's truly a blessing to have SEEN these two perform at the height of their careers. Just enjoy every moment of them from now on, because it may take several years or more to see more white guys like them again, once they're gone.
