Nothing special but I thought I would post a few times by our guys. Matic Osovnikar won his 100 for Slovenia in a time of 10.24 to help his team. Tobias Unger finished 3rd his his eurocup group meeting in a very slow 10.37 however it was into a negative 1.8 wind. Still dissapointing. The German team also was disqualified from the 4 x 100 relay after winning the race.

Paul Hession won his 100 in his race in another slow time of 10.30. Alot of these races were very slow either due to negative wind, lack of better competition or just a lack of good form for this time of year. The polish sprinters have been very sad. It is hard to figure out in an olympic year.

On a bright note, Yulia Nesterenko, the defending womens olympic champion from Athens, won her 100 heat in good form into a negative wind. Feel free to post other results guys.

Yes that is true. However, I'm worried because our best sprinters other than Wariner are running like crap and alot of other finalist hopefuls in the 100 are hurt. Pickering and LeBlanc haven't done anything. They are both hurt at the moment. Matic Osovnikar is just not running like he usually does. We will see what happens over the next month and a half. Good luck to all of our guys and girls that we root for!

I am also concerned. As white lighting said, outside of Wariner, no one is looking particularly good.
Johan Wissman, who emerged as a medal contender in the 400m last year, has been pretty average this year in the 400m. However today he did run a 20.30 in the 200m.

Yes, this 10.00 thing is just bizarre. Yet another year of regression would be very discouraging. Yepishin did 10.10 a couple of years ago, Pickering 10.14 last year. We're going in the wrong direction.

Shirvo, Macro and Nagel are all long washed up. White sprinters are like shooting stars.

The new breed need to step up.

I have to admit I share the general pessimism about the 100M at the moment. It is a numbers game to an extent and there just are not any number of white 100M runners threatening to get down around 10.1, just Pickering (if he recovers from his injury problems).

But to brighten the mood I should mention another great 400M runner from Britain. Martyn Rooney. He won the European Cup last weekend and is only 21 years old. I think his time was about 45.15. You should have seen him in the relay. Setting off in about 5th place he overtook four runners and nearly caught the Frenchman on the line after being about 25 meters behind him. He looks a great prospect. He is a similar build to Wariner, very lean - not bulky at all, but a bit taller.

Rooney split a 44.15 on that relay. Damn is that flying. Great Britain will have a pretty good 4 x 400 Relay Team in the next few years as these guys progress more.

Pickering is running this weekend in the 100. I'm very anxious to see how he will do since his hamstring and back problems have just killed the good training from earlier in the year. Craig Pickering and Micheal LeBlanc have both had the worst of luck and they are two of the best 100 sprinters that we root for.

Don't count out Jared Connaughton 10.15 and Tobias Unger at 10.17! They could be the best hope of guys to make the finals as of right now. I still hope that our guys will heal up soon. The Canadian National Championships are coming up in two weeks.

Also Paul Hession could also suprise some people in the 100 with a few more races. Let's keep our fingers crossed guys.
