I'm drinking too many sodas! I drink them all the time
smiley6.gif
, dose anyone have any advice on how to quit???

What kind of soda do you drink and how many a day? Maybe it's the caffeine you are addicted to unless you are drinking the zero calorie sodas.

Damn!! It's probably the caffeine you are addicted to. I am an energy drink fiend and need one on the morning and one in the afternoon. Caffeine is a tough habit to kick. Cut down slowly on the soda. Caffeine withdrawal can give you headaches.

Yea, that sick headache is a b****!!

lost, drinking ten full sugar sodas a day is ENTIRELY too much. The sugar you are putting into your body is enormoous. Sodas with sugar are some of the worst things to consume, especially on a daily basis.

lost, I don't know what your physical condition is but sodas cause obesity and tooth decay on epic portions. I am also addicited to caffiene. Have you ever tasted "Diet Dr Pepper" ? To me it taste like the original or better! But with out the of posision of overloaded sugar.

lost, hope you can kick that bad habit.

Thanks Westside,
I'm not much overweight, I'm 5'10" and 218lb, but most of my weight come from year's as a pro bodybuilder, I can't get much lower than 200lb, and i'm a little scared of diet soda, i dont like nothing with "Die" in it's name!

Lost, I had a friend who was olympic caliber swimmer in college. He was 6'00" and 185 lbs. He had the perfect build. Once at the beach or pool the women would clock him constantly.

Fast forward 2010. He is still 6'00" but weighs close to 300 lbs! He drinks regular sodas throughout the day. I asked him how many does he consume. He told me around 6 or 8 day and everyday. This guy looks horrible. He looks like he closing in on 50 rather than 40. He stays home all the time and his only enjoyments are over eating and watching his duaghter in swim meets. She is an excellent swimmer.

It has got so bad that he has needs a device to help him sleep at night. It forces oxygen to his lungs because of his obesity. Lost, this guy has ruined his life and probably will die with in the next ten years because of soda and horrible diet. Bro you gotta stop drinking that poision ASAP.

Man, that's a lot of caffeine bro, and a lot of sugar. I was wondering why a lot of your posts (always enjoyable) contain so many exclamation marks.

I used to be a major caffeine and sugarholic, till one day during a physical the doctor left the room and came back with a glucose meter and a bag of five different medications and told me I had full blown diabetes, with high blood pressure. I felt like I'd been sucker punched, but I brought it on myself.

I had to chuck the gluttony and the globs of honey in my tea and the 32 ounce Snapples and a bunch of other things and now I'm down to two meds and my blood sugar is mostly fine. I don't want to be the one legged old man in the wheelchair waiting for the bus.

I don't think you want to be that guy either Lost. Edited by: The Hock

The Hock, the friend of mine I spoke about, also had a separate frig to store all of his 32 once Snapples and sodas. Row upon Row of every flavor. He was so proud of this! I thought he was coming down with a mental illness. He would also consume these at a astounding rate.

I am no longer friends with his guy. Back on Nov 5, 2008 we got into an argument of Obama and I told him he was a DWF and voting for Obama he would be selling out and putting a AA person in the White House. He got angry and threaten me with violence. We have not spoke since.

I dislike soda. I prefer orange juice or any fruit juice. The only time I will drink soda is if it's zero calories. The enormous amount of sugar upsets my stomach.

It's easier for me to hit the exclamation key, I have nerve damage in right hand, and can't feel two of my fingers. but thanks for the advice!

quit drinking sodas, man.at least on a regular basis.

how? go cold turkey, if you can.

i know the headaches are painful, but getting off the caffeine addiction is worth it.i used to LOVE Mountain Dew and would drink several a day ... until i realized i was addicted to thecaffeine on a road trip with a lady friend. i hadn't had my morning Dew, and i was getting real cranky with a pounding headache as lunchtime approached. we stopped somewhere to grab a bite, and with my first sip of cola my headache went away. i was stunned.

i made a commitment at that time to NEVER be a slave to that crap again.

sure, it was tough for the first few days as i went through caffeine withdrawal. but like i said before, it was worth it. now, i enjoy a cola once in a while but i primarily just drink a lot of water (and milk with breakfast). it's amazing how much cleaner and less bogged downi feel after making just that simple change.

Yes, if i quit anything it's got to be coldturkey! I've cut back many times, but find I'm right back in a few months,

Lost, try subsistuting Sun Tean during the summer. You will get a slow caffeine buzz, that will slowly get you off the caffeine buzz. I drink a half a gallon of Sun Tea a day during the summer months. You will feel alot better. Also, you will get alot of anti oxidents by drinking tea without the sugar.

Jimmy, you don't like energy drinks? I have two a day but that's my limit. Caffeine is safe in amounts up to 400mg a day for the average adult.

no, sir. i stay away from them. i admit, i take the avoidance of caffeine (and other drugs) to the extreme. possibly too much so. but it seems like everything that is manufactured these dayshas addictive properties, and ijust hate the ideaof getting hooked on something. i am a (reasonably) free American, and i think it's bad enough that "my" government is constantly infringing on my freedoms and i fight against that.

i don't want to do their job for them and enslave myself to some drug.

I understand your point. I use those drinks for my pre workout and it works great. I actually quit smoking cigarettes since switching to energy drinks.

I like that answer. Prudent man.

Lost, if it's the caffeine that you're addicted to...then switch to No Doze or Vivarin to avoid the extra calories & sugar in soda. I enjoy sweet tea for lunch or dinner now & then, but not daily. I might have a Mountain Dew, root beer or RC Cola every once in a while, but it's rare. I drink about 1/2 to 1 gallon of water a day. Outside of H2O, I'll knock down a (sugar free) Rock Star at work & some PowerAid Zero after working out.

I love orange soda (no, I'm not black...), lime soda, rootbeer, quality fruit punch, very sweet iced tea and sweet ole lemonade!

lost, like I posted eariler, try some unsweetened sun tea. It gives a mellow caffeine buzz plus the antioxidants.

Lost, if you were drinking 10 sodas a day you were taking in around 1,400 calories a day just from that!! That's a lot.

Green Tea is good & herbal tea is good for you. I drink the "good for ya" tea every now & again, but grew up on sweet tea & enjoy it whenever we go out to lunch (usually after church on Sundays). As a kid, I loved milk too. I used to knock down a gallon or 2 per week (skim or 1%) & never had a broken bone as a kid (partially attributed to my large bone structure). I guess my beverage "vices" would be 1) sweet tea, 2) beer (usually 2-3 on the weekend), 3) bourbon (every once in a blue moon) & 4) soda (every now & then). My primary beverage staple is good ol' H2O.
