You have to feel bad for the rank and file Republicans. They were saddled with Mr.Amnesty, a man most of them can't stand, who is sickly, and makes Bob Dole look exciting. Then, for some odd reason,McCain would rather play nicey, nicey, while he is being hammered by the opposition. Unreal!

LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down. McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."

A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Some in the audience are making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of "traitor," "terrorist," "treason," "liar," and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them.

McCain changed his tone Friday when supporters at a town hall pressed him to be rougher on Obama. A voter said, "The people here in Minnesota want to see a real fight." Another said Obama would lead the U.S. into socialism. Another said he did not want his unborn child raised in a country led by Obama.

"If you want a fight, we will fight," McCain said. "But we will be respectful. I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments." When people booed, he cut them off.

"I don't mean that has to reduce your ferocity," he said. "I just mean to say you have to be respectful."

(snip)

When a visibly angry McCain supporter in Waukesha, Wis., on Thursday told the candidate "I'm really mad" because of "socialists taking over the country," McCain stoked the sentiment. "I think I got the message," he said. "The gentleman is right." He went on to talk about Democrats in control of Congress.

On Friday, McCain rejected the bait.

"I don't trust Obama," a woman said. "I have read about him. He's an Arab."

McCain shook his head in disagreement, and said:

"No, ma'am. He's a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with (him) on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign is all about."

He had drawn boos with his comment: "I have to tell you, he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."

I have no sympathy whatsoever for the "rank-and-file" Republicans. They're thedittoheads/drunk white fanswho have fallen for one fake "conservative" after another for generations now. They're the main reason the GOPwith its ironclad neo-con controlhas become as repugnant as the Democrat Party and its neo-cons.

Romney was solid on immigration and looked the part of a president. But he was a Mormon! The Horror!

Romney could have really run with the current economic crisis, being a successful investment banker (not the most demanding field, but he would have slung the jargon like mad and maybe even have had a couple of plausible ideas).

The Fix, methinks, was in from the start. 'They' want Obama in the White House, and McCain as feeble opposition was the best way to do it. Just look at how Obama 'won' his Senate seat.

Good summary of these sheeplized Bushbots that comprise the Neocon'd "mainline" Republicruds. Those who're easily deceived by propaganda mouthpieces like "Pawn Vanity" inc. Far too many just don't understand the great deception of the "Left vs. Right" paradigm.

Mitt would have been great if he were christian or lutheran or any of the more accepted christian denominations. but his being mormon would have crippled him with independents and the talking heads. all the msm would have to do is open up the book of mormon and talk about mormon beliefs. Mitt would have never gotten past that issue.

mormons are cool. but there's no way Romney would get elected being mormon. Maddow, Olberman, Maher, Stewart etc etc would have a field day making fun of his beliefs. im not saying that it would be appropriate for them to talk about his religion but they would. and they'd make 1000's of funny jokes about mormon beliefs, and the 18 - 34 demographic would buy into it completely. Mitt would have a better shot being a scientologist, atleast then he'd have celebrities to back him up and raise money for him.

I think many in the media downplayed the possibility of McCain winning any primary elections, and then started screaming over and over about how his momentum was impossible to stop a few days prior to the beginning of the primaries, for the sole purpose of not having to discuss his less than savory personal and military life and his role in the savings and loans scandals. They put him under the radar and then picked him up, purposefully, at the correct moment to corral the sheep into stampeding for him. Of course I'm assuming that votes are even counted nowadays. I wouldn't swear to it.
