Congrats on your 1000th post, groundfighter.

Now that Ground Fighter finally made it to 1,000 posts I think he's gonna stop posting altogether.

I'm like the Mike Furrey of CF.

1,000 yards/1,000 posts...its the same thing.

Looks like the Sebastian Coates thread has been linked to somewhere else online because there have been over 200 people on the sites for over 2 hours. Interesting how that happens on certain threads from time to time.

Reb, how do you know it's the Sebastian Coates thread?

Just by looking at who was online. Earlier over half of the users were viewing that thread. Now it looks like less than half, but still quite a few. It was the same way when some other threads got a lot of attention in the past.

yes, coates was not very well known in english language, so when he was rumored to go to liverpool, and finally got transfered, people wanted to know if he had european passport (because an european team can't have too much non european players legally)
and i was the only one to tell he had spanish passport in english
this is the reason

I don't think it matters in England if I am not mistaken. If you are on your national team, which he is, an English club can sign you even if you don't have a passport. In theory Arsenal could have the whole Brazilian National team play for them. I think Spain and Italy are different, but they just give these guys from Argentina a passport because of a relative being from Italy or Spain a 100 years ago. The same goes for Brazil.

i think there is a rule in champions league, so if a player has no european passport, he often can't play in champions league
liverpool doesn't play the champions league this year, but next year for sure
the passport is the reason why it was linked here for example

the limit in champions league is 3 non european players in the squad
and countries like ukraine is considered non european (not part of the european union) at least a few years ago, when ukraine was not in the european union (i don't know if they are now) i remember schevchanko counted as non european, and he said it was unfair

(this is a total joke when you see some of the teams, like braga for example in last years europa league, or maybe the rule is different in europa league)

Just saw that the Caste Football forum just set another "most users online" record with 228 users just a few minutes ago.:cheer2:

Congrats Caste Football! Hope the record is shattered many more times in the future!

the first time i visited the website, around 12 h european time, there were more than 30 users in the "english premier league white-black ratios"
it decreased
and when i came back now (at 18h european time) there was again more than 30 users in this thread (more than 50 now)

i guess it has been linked somewhere, maybe the race topic is more under the spotlights in england because of the multiple racism-related incidents recently:

CF, you've come a long way! :thumb:

It was 7 years ago today that I registered on CF after perusing the site for week or so. Here are a couple of screen grabs of what CF's discussion forum looked like that day. These captures were taken when site traffic was pretty high (for the time). If the growth of this site isn't a reason for optimism, I don't know what is!

Cool screen shot. Seems like only yesterday that you joined, Reb.

Too bad so many excellent posters have stopped posting here over the years; the quality of the CF board would be off the charts great if even half of them were still around.

That's very true, Don. I wish those guys were still around too. I wish I had found the site earlier on, when I first started looking into the lack of White players at certain positions. That would have been somewhere around mid-'03, back when CF was still a pay site. I'm kind of surprised it took me so long to find CF, but I'm glad I found it when I did! I've learned so much by interacting with everyone here. I consider CF to be my online community and I am grateful to all of you for what you have done to make it that, but especially to Don and the long term posters, including those that were here before me! :hail:
