I really do not know where to begin. My son is an undersized LB 6'1" 210 lbs. Funny how he is undersized and Arthur Brown a top recruit is the same size and he is not described the same. Well my son does not have the same skills as Arthur, no doubt in my mind but he is a "solid MLB " as described by numerous D I recruiters.

Now to my real pain. He was very involved in recruitment with a school on the East Coast. Visited and had constant communication for months until the last few weeks. I have stayed out of direct communication with schools leaving that to Lightsout Jr. I called and was told that everything being equal the other player had a "greater need" and thats why he signed yesterday. Well, I guess I just discovered that I make too much. The other thing that frosts me is the player with "greater need" is 5'9 205LBs.

I have no idea how all this will end as he has numerous D IIi offers but it appears he will try to walk on to a D I team

Good luck to him. At least he is playing a position where white players are accepted. I wonder how much the "need" thing has to do with athletic scholorships? I bet the school gets double credit for minority enrollment when they hand out an athletic freebee.

Well this is as good of a thread as any to throw in the White signings for class of '08. I only included schools that recruited white DBs, WRs, or RBs. I did my best to ascertain what position a player was going to be placed in. For guys I wasn't sure, I just put ATH and listed their measurables. Keep in mind that pictures are hard to come by for many low ranked (white) recruits so this list is not comprehensive. Also keep in mind that there will be many whites who take the long hard road of the walk-on (around 35-40% of current white NFL WRs were college walk-ons).

Air Force: RB/DB Ryan Misare, DB Jake Sharum, DB Jonathan Warzeka, S Corbin Brown, WR Brandon Herneise (I love Air Force. There might be another one or two I'm missing since it's hard to find pictures of Air Force recruits)
Akron: S Nathan Schuler, S Will Fleming
Alabama: S Wesley Neighbors
Arizona: WR David Douglas, *RB Justin Salum (Air Force transfer)
Arizona State: S Max Tabach (one of the few bright spots on a coal black recruiting class by Coach Dennis Erickson)
Arkansas State: WR Taylor Clements, WR Taylor Stockemer, ATH Graham Bates (5'11", 172, 4.7), WR Justin Schoemehl
smiley32.gif

Army: WR Nathan Hughes, S Joshua Powell
Auburn: CB Drew Cole, WR Derek Winter
Ball State: WR Briggs Orsbon
Boise State: WR Chris Potter, **Aha! Now I know why I couldn't find RB Matt Kaiserman or WR Mitch Burroughs on Boise's website, they were greyshirts who were just unveiled in the 08 class.**
Boston College: S Stephen Atkinson
BYU: S Daniel Sorensen
Cincinnati: S Patrick Lambert, ATH Jared Rains (5'11", 185, 4.49), WR/K Danny Milligan
Clemson: S Daniel Andrews
Colorado: S Vince Ewing, S Patrick Mahnke (Coach Hawkins also recruited 3 white LB's and a DT. I like where this program is headed)
Colorado State: S Andy Clements, S Adam Wilson
Connecticut: ATH Matt Edwards (6'1", 195, 4.50)
East Carolina: S Justin Venable
Florida State: WR Joshua Gehres: you read that right. FSU actually recruited a white guy that isn't a kicker or a QB. How this happened is anybody's guess. Best case scenario I would guess is that he's a part-time slot receiver and full-time special teamer.
Georgia Tech: S Cooper Taylor
Houston: S Kris Johnston, DB Nick Saenz
Indiana: ATH Chad Sherer (6'0", 192, 4.62)
Iowa: CB Jack Swanson
Kansas State: S Logan Dold
Kent State: ATH Chris Gilbert (6'0", 184, 4.50)
Louisiana Tech: WR R.P. Stuart, WR Houston Tuminello
LSU: S Rocky Duplessis
Miami (OH): WR Andy Cruse
Michigan: RB Sam McGuffie
Navy: FB (only listed because it's Navy) Austin Beaty, WR Hal Bowron, ATH Eric Stein (6'1", 200, 4.57),
Nebraska: ATH John Levorson (6'3", 185, 4.55), WR Tim Marlowe, S Mason Wald
Northern Illinois: WR Chase Mejia, DB Jody Van Laanen
Northwestern: RB Alex Daniel, WR Jeremy Ebert, DB Hunter Bates
Notre Dame: S Dan McCarthy, WR John Goodman
Ohio: RB? Brandon Weaver
Ohio State: S Zach Domicone, WR Jake Stoneburner
Ole Miss: S Hunter Miller
Oregon: S John Boyett
Oregon State: S Kameron Krebs
Pittsburgh: WR Mike Shanahan, DB Andrew Taglianetti (5'10", 175, 4.5: He's taking a grayshirt in order to "bulk up", presumably so he can play his appropriate role as safety)
Rice: WR Michael Patterson (looks kind of white, maybe Hispanic)
Rutgers: S Patrick Kivlehan
SMU: ATH Cole Beasley (5'9" 155, 4.42), ATH Bryce Lunday (5'8", 176, 4.51), WR Cole Loftin
South Florida: S Evan Landi
Stanford: WR Warren Reuland
Syracuse: WR Trey Fairchild,
TCU: ATH Sam Shutt (6'0", 178, 4.41)
Temple: WR Kevin Kroboth
Texas: WR Brock Fitzhenry, S Blake Gideon, S Nolan Brewster
Texas Tech: S Cody Davis
Toledo: S Mark Singer
Troy: WR Gavin Ellis
Tulane: DB Alex Lauricella
UAB: S Drew Luker,
UNLV: WR Gordy Cooper, S Beau Orth
USC: S Drew McAllister
Utah: RB Sausan Shakerin
Vanderbilt: WR John Cole (Stanford), S Al Owens
Washington: WR Cody Bruns
Washington State: WR Jared Karstetter, S Jay Matthews, WR Cory Mackay, WR ?Michael Vandenkolk?

North Texas was disgusting this year. Like two OL and a QB (the coach's son). Otherwise, black as night. To think that a guy from an almost completely white high school that utterly dominated Texas and national competition should turn his back on what made him so successful is pretty ridiculous.

Arkansas State: WR Taylor Stockemer (one of the best receivers in the state of Arkansas, not even offered by our 'savior' Bobby Petrino)

+
Ohio: RB Brandon Weaver (he was a RB in high school and his local media indicates he was recruited as such, although SCOUT lists him as a LB, so who knows)

There are still a few white holdouts who might land a spot with D1 teams, like record-setting Jordan Roberts. We'll have to wait and see, I guess.Edited by: Riddlewire

Grand Valley State, best DII program in the country, signed the following
(a couple of these guys I'm just assuming are white, given name and
location):

Sam Burchyett 6-1 185 WR Saline
Zac Dreffs 5-10 175 CB Elk Rapids
John Orlando 6-0 175 WR Utica Eisenhower
Chad O'Shell 5-10 175 RB Warren De La Salle
??Matt Sanders 6-3 200 DB Farmington Hills Harrison??

Another guy going to a DII school, who has NFL potential just like John
DiGiorgio from Saginaw Valley/Buffal Bills, is Matt Eisenzpoh, 6-0, 210 LB
from Menominee in the UP -- two-time state champion -- to Northern
Michigan. He was on the Detroit News Dream Team.

The offensive star of that team, 5-11, 180 Ethan Shaver, is the school's
all-time rusher, but listed as a WR with Michigan Tech's signees. He was
the UP champ in the 100 meters.Edited by: GreatLakeState

Good job Jared, you beat me to the punch this year. When going through the list, a few new kids that we haven't discussed, really stood out.

Auburn's CB recruit, Drew Cole, looks very impressive on paper. 6'-0", 180 lbs, 4.41 speed and a white CB in the SEC.

Iowa State's Dustin Land (Jared you need to add him to your list) is a safety out of Florida. 6'-0", 197 lbs, 4.41 speed

Northwestern's Hunter Bates is the son of former Dallas Cowboys great Bill Bates.Edited by: SteveB

SteveB, it looks like Dustin Land has been told he'll play QB at Iowa State. Of course that may change when one of his blacker teammates is handed the job. I added Stockemer and Weaver. Stockemer had a very good shuttle (3.97) for such a tall guy. I'll keep making updates as I find them. I started compiling this list before signing day.Edited by: jared

Other ones to add:

Danny Milligan, WR, 5-9, 165, 4.5 to Cincinnati. Cincinnati has recruiting quite a few white skill players over the past three years, but they never seem to show up on the field.

Tim Marlowe, Ath, 5-10, 165, 4.5 and Mason Wald, S, 5-11, 195 both to Nebraska. Nebraska has finally started to recruit white skill players again.

Patrick Kivlehan, S, 6-1, 191, 4.6 to Rutgers.

Sean Westgate, S, 5-11, 185, 4.6 to UCLA.

Hunter Miller, S, 6-2, 185, 4.57 to Ole Miss.Edited by: SteveB

Good catches SteveB, I hadn't seen some of those names. Couldn't tell if Danny Milligan was being recruited as a kicker or WR. Also, Sean Westgate was recruited to play LB at UCLA.

Virginia Tech: WR Austin Fuller (6-2 210, 4.69?)

Will he be relegated to Special Team's Demon or LB?

Here's a Wes Welker like white WR who is a commit to Northern Illinois, Chase Mejia. Nothern Illinois was the only Div. 1A school to offer this kid. This guys evaluation really sounds like Wes Welker!

Mejia has been a solid camp performer at every stop he has ever made. His top end speed and size may have held him back from some big offers, but he is amazingly quick off of the line and is almost unstoppable in a one-on-one type of situation.

Biography:
Junior Stats: Mejia caught 37 passes for 600 yards and six touchdowns while also returning 15 kick-offs for 500 yards and two scores, returning 12 punts for 270 yards and intercepting three passes.

A look at possibly the top white recruiting snub, WR Steven Staggs who will walk on at Iowa. I will add a list of commitments of schools Staggs wanted to attend. The answer is obvious of why this kid wasn't signed. Clearly his production and ability on the H.S level warrant a scholarship. Scout.com has lots of positive things to say about Staggs.

Staggs is silky smooth and is a superior route runner that broke his leg in two places early in his junior season. He played two games on it due to the fact it was believed to be a high ankle sprain. He has all the skills of a top level recruit at the position.

Biography:
Staggs missed most of his junior year due to a broken leg.

Here is a list of WRs interested in attending Iowa where Staggs will have to walk on. 40 times are listed. The Yes means they have an offer. The players are sorted in descending Scout.com rank. You will see the clear double standard of players ranked below Staggs with slower 40 times and less size that have offers. Staggs was the highest ranked player I saw to have virtually no Div. 1A offers. Staggs only had one offer to Army, it's obviously his race hurting him. Disregard the Med, Low, None, Verbal line.

It is very disappointing to me that Brock Fitzhenry is going to become another white slot receiver. Fitzhenry could have been a brilliant scat back in college. Going to Texas all but doomed his fate of becoming a RB. I don't know if he will have a shot at the NFL as the third WR at Texas. He is very foolish to go to that program. I'm mad about his choice.
