Since breaking into the starting lineup midway through the 2006 season, he has seemed doomed to high-profile mistakes, blunders that have drowned out solid performances.
Hounded by these images -- missed tackles, blown assignments, interceptions that could have been -- he's become a scapegoat.
"I've had games where I've played at a high level for 98 percent of the game," Considine said Tuesday. "And then there's always that one play that's kind of left a lasting impression on people, including myself, and that's disappointing."
Excuses have never been part of his style, though he's had the right to some.
