The title of the article makes it seem like Russians are turning on the poor. But what is really happening is that they are turning against IMMIGRANTS.

Russians turn on underclass from former Soviet empire
By Helen Womack in Moscow
(Filed: 27/08/2006)

In a gloomy Moscow underpass thousands of miles from her native Kyrgyzstan, a young mother shivers as she tries to hawk pegs, bath sponges and Rubik's Cubes. A few blocks away, a schoolteacher from Moldova sells tomatoes out of a cardboard box and tries to dodge the police, who take half her income in "fines".

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, whose Communist ideology promised a classless society and brotherhood of all races, the ethnic minorities of the former Soviet republics have become Moscow's new underclass: working like slaves, hounded by the police and unloved by the newly wealthy Muscovites whose needs they serve. Now, after last week's deadly blast at the city's Cherkizovsky market, used mostly by traders from Asia and the Causasus, the immigrants and guest workers are also grappling with a new problem: the Russian nationalist extremists who want to kill them.

Maybe having 60 million of their people killed by the bolsheviks has finally wisened them up to the culprits behind communism and the selling out of their race.

Is that what we need to wisen up?Edited by: Kaptain Poop

No offense Poop but I don't think Mongolians(in modern history)_ were behind the killing of the Russian peasants. Maybe they should kill Georgians as the biggest killer in their history was Georgian(Stalin). Stalin ordered the killing of more people than Adolph Hitler. Stalin is only topped by the beloved Chairman Mao as worlds alltime killer...

Who mentioned Mongolians? Are you saying that the Bolsheviks were not responsible for killing millions in Russia? Stalin was also part of the Bolshevik party - where am I in error then in mentioning the Bolsheviks as behind the killings of Russian peasants?Edited by: Kaptain Poop

Yes they were I thought you meant that the non Russian minorites in the USSR worked with the bolsheveiks. As far as I know they were as punished as the Russians. The Tatars were exiled from the Ukraine to the Urals and left for dead. All ethnic nationalists were sent to Siberia(I know because an inlaw of mine was sent there to die and did).

Former Bolsheviks Create a New Group

Former members of the banned National Bolshevik Party on Tuesday announced the creation of a nationalist group called the National Bolshevik Front that appears to have the indirect support of the Kremlin.

"We control more than 30 percent of what used to be Limonov's NBP," National Bolshevik Front leader Alexei Golubovich said after a founding congress of some 40 black-shirted delegates.

Eduard Limonov is the leader of the National Bolshevik Party, the outspoken anti-Kremlin group that a court ordered disbanded last year. It claims 55,000 members.

Golubovich, who also wore a black shirt, said the delegates represented National Bolshevik Party branches in about 30 regions as well as several former Soviet republics.

The new group is being formed together with the Eurasian Youth Union, a one-year-old nationalist group whose chief ideologist, Alexander Dugin, has close ties with the Kremlin administration. Dugin co-founded the National Bolshevik Party with Limonov in the early 1990s but they parted ways in 1998, citing ideological differences.
