Well Andy the " Buffet destroyer" Ruiz weighed in at 283 and change for the Joshua rematch and Joshua came into the fight at a Klitschko like 238. While Ruiz did wear a sombrero, kept his shoes, track pants and shirt on that would make him at 281 and change at best, this looks like Buster Douglas all over again.

I fully expect the bettors to pound Joshua and increase the odds after this weigh in.

On the under card Povetkin may have his last kick at the can at winning another world title as he is in an eliminator against the underrated Michael Hunter. Shockingly from what I saw Hunter is a 2 to 1 betting favorite.

In his prime I would have no problem picking Povetkin, but at 40 he may start showing signs of decline as the betting odds reflect this.

Also Hrgovic is up against veteran fringe contender Eric Molina, for a pro with less than 10 fights this is a fairly tough assignment.

Finally amateur star and novice pro Mahammadrasul Majidov is facing British club fighter Tom Little, in the past I would have called Little fat but after observing Ruiz he is Mr. Universe ...

Maybe Ruiz converted flab into muscle. I have watched videos of him leading up to this fight. He looks quick and fluid. I can not believe he is not conditioned. Before the weigh-in, I was 80% confident that Ruiz would KO AJ. Now its a pick'em fight.

I don't think this is where the excess weight would show, it' will probably show up in the middle rounds or after a hard round where one guy tries to take out the other guy and the extra weight would hinder his recovery.

If Ruiz gets KTFO or rescued by the referee or his corner I expect to hear stories of similar eating escapades as Buster Douglas in his training camp leading up to his title defense against Holyfield.

Ruiz sure does talk a good game. And does not appear to be a drinker. We shall see. I have read that there is a 3 fight guarantee. If so, maybe Ruiz did not put the full effort into this fight. Ruiz has been boxing since he was 6 years old. That gives a fighter a high ring IQ with power, and movement tremendous confidence. Maybe he is banking on that.

I'd love to see Povetkin beat Hunter, but Sasha is age 40 now and looked somewhat faded in his past two fights.

Age 40 Povetkin did very well in the first half of the fight and the last round, although he showed his age in some of the rounds.

Result: draw.

A younger version of Povetkin would have knocked out Hunter.

Yes, Ruiz even admitted he "trained himself", the whole 6 month reign was eerily similar to Leon Spinks and Buster Douglas, the only difference was Ruiz had demonstrated he has a better fighting heart than Douglas had and his self destructive behaviour isn't nearly as taxing on the body as Spinks' cocaine abuse.

PS, this win still doesn't mean Joshua can do this against either Fury or Wilder as he still looked shaky when he was tagged and Fury is a better boxer than his paint by numbers boxing style.

Agreed. Ruiz should be ashamed of himself for rolling into the ring for lineal heavyweight championship a fat slob. I hope the media rips him for his unprofessional behavior. I still think Fury beats all including Wilder again if he can dodge Wilder's power.
