I'm really excited about this one!

Will Joe be treated fairly by the New York area judges?

I've seen more bad judging from New York area judges than anywhere else.

Examples:

Holyfield vs. Lewis I - Lewis won every round, it was scored a draw

Malignaggi vs. Njoudgo - that time the visiting black fighter was robbed by the home judges - the black-acting Malignaggi is popular with the people who normally bash white fighters

Casamayor vs. Santa Cruz - it was obvious to almost everyone that the wrong guy got the win

If white boxer hater Julie Lederman works the fight, will it be impossible for Joe to do better than a SD if it goes to the cards?

I'm really excited about this fight too, JD! Let's hope Joe can get the stoppage, so we don't need to see the judges scores.

I think Joe will do better against Roy Jones than he did against Hopkins. I was checking through Youtube and the hate for Calzaghe continues. Brainwashed white kids posting messages that Jones will destroy Calzaghe and Calzaghe hasn't faced anyone good in his career.Edited by: whiteathlete33

Jones has been knocked out by Tarver and Johnson. Those losses were many years ago. Jones does not have much of a chin and Joe will exploit it eventually, due to his high volume punching. Roy has lost more than a step and is simply looking for one last glory fight (albeit undeserved.) This will be a win for Calzaghe and further cement his standing as one of the best fighters ever. My hope is that he retires undefeated and that means he must start to wind down, pick his fights while heading to the Boxing Hall of Fame.

That being said, I do have some pause based on the Pavlik factor: that is to say, that Joe may mysteriously come into the fight, flat, defensive and not himself, much like Kelly did against B-Hype.Edited by: WHITE NOISE

Ok thanks for the info Amren.com.So this will definitely be one to watch. I'm excited about this fight and knowing that Joe plans to hang them up afterward, I hope he punctuates his career with a knockout of Jones.

Noone is giving Calzaghe credit. He will have to beat Jones decisively and then everyone will claim that Jones is past his prime. White guys just can't get respect.

Beating Bhop is a better accomplishment than beating RJJ.
In fact, beating Chad Dawson would be a better accomplishment.

Yes, I really wish Joe takes one more fight after this one. I would like to see him destroy Dawson. That would silence the haters.

I am predicting a UD for Joe. There is a chance he may get a late round TKO but he will have make Roy exert a lot of energy. This means he will have to win the first half of every round and make Roy chase him. Then alternate it, fooling Roy. Joe will have to be in supreme condition to pull it off.

I don't think Joe has the killer KO punch at 170 lbs, he didn't at 168 lbs. Joe to get his KO will have to tire out Roy leading up to the last rounds. If Roy is exhuasted come the 10th round, he could be ripe for the picking. Joe, however, must be smart and not reckless. Roy's superfast left hook can put Joe to sleep, if he runs into it, ala Rick Hatton.

My prediction is Joe on a UD or possible late round TKO. Mapleleaf, Johnnyboy and JD1986 whats your analysis and predictions. Look forward to them!

A win here would somewhat makeup for the Pavlik loss and say it ain't so Joe, don't retire, there are a couple of more haters for you to defeat after Roy Jones.

Ok, I am starting to recover from the trauma of BO president elect winning the Presidency. I looked with the disgust at all of those whites cheering and laying down giving the highest office to BO. What a disgrace. The esmasculation of whites is complete.

I confident knowing that at least one White Man won't ly down and be subjagated by a black man. That Man is Joe Calzaghe. For my mental health he needs to win, be it a decision, UD or KO. I need him to win.

God, how if the f..k did white people get played! BO as President! This man could not get a top secret clearence as a lower grade Officer in the Armed Forces! If Joe wins I will feel alot better.

Nothing changes with O. He has no budget room to implement his social welfare agenda. He will have a recession early on. At best he gets us out of Wogistan. But note his chief-of-staff will be Rahm Emmanuel, which may signal his intention to hew the Zionist line and stay indefinitely in Iraq.

There's a reason McCain only pretended to campaign for the office.

Have to admire O though. He was the better candidate.

There are a whole bunch of reasons why O was able to pull this off. Bottom line is that there are way too many non-whites who voted about 80% for O. M won 55% of the white vote to O's 43%. As the country turns more and more non-white, it's going to take a higher percent of whites to win.

About the fight and not the election. By the way gentlemen, please use Happy Hour for your comments off topic.

Here is how I see this match-up:

Both of these fighters are more or less equal in size and reach so neither is going to have much of an advantage either way in that regard. Neither fighter should have problems making weight and I expect both to come in feeling well trained and comfortable.

If you have watched RJJ fight over the years you will recognize his style. He keeps his hands down or keeps his right hand very high and his left at his waist. He also likes to gesture, posture, fake, fool, taunt, sometimes jeer and even mock his opponents to get them to misstep or leave an easy opening which he counters into. He does this in the centre of the ring and keeps his punch output moderate to low while doing this. He prefers fewer quality punches rather than success through volume. When he was younger and faster he got away with bad positioning and low guard because he could. He was always faster on foot and by hand than his selected opponents. He never liked fighting with his back to the ropes and when he did find himself there he still resorted to countering rather than clutching, grabbing, and holding as Hopkins does. He still is fast, but he no longer has blazing hand speed, and without the speed advantage the rest of his faults are easier to take advantage of. When he forgets, or is unable to keep the fight in the middle of the ring, he ends up leaving wide openings for his opponents to throw into. Tarver and Johnson both made RJJ pay for his mistakes.

Calzaghe is almost the same age as RJJ so to say that one is old and the other young is just plain false. Calzaghe is 36 and RJJ is 39. Both are at the end or nearing the end of their careers. But Calzaghe is a better preserved man. Calzaghe's face looks like it has almost never been touched; RJJ's face looks wrinkled, lined, and squished. Calzaghe still has most of his foot and hand speed; RJJ clearly has lost proportionately more speed. Calzaghe does not insult his opponents, he just beats them all. RJJ not so much -although he is not a louse like Hopkins.

The fight should play out like this: Calzaghe is going to use the template that Tarver and Johnson made by going after RJJ and overwhelming him. RJJ likes to have time, space, and distance to craft together his well placed shots. Calzaghe is not going to give him that time, space, and distance. That is Calzaghe's style anyway. Calzaghe likes to throw his machine gun-like punches while attacking his opponents from the side. Watch some of his videos and you will see his brilliant footwork. Frequently he ends up behind his opponents and they cannot figure out how. He is not always accurate but he throws so many punches that the judges see him throwing and his opponents trying to cover up. He still has the power he always had but he cannot use it anymore because his hands are brittle now after years of punching away freely on all of his opponents. His hands are just worn out. So he takes some power off his punches and throws for speed and volume. Look for RJJ to be backed against the ropes or stalled in the centre of the ring while Calzaghe flails away at him.
I predict a tough win for Calzaghe based on quantity of connects. RJJ will have his moments but it will not be enough to win.

Been thinking of this fight. If the RJJ who beat the blown up former Welterweight Champ Felix Trinadad, then Joe should have relatively easy go of it. RJJ couldn't even KO the smaller man.

At six rounds Trinadad was winning that fight. He lost becuase he got tired and RJJ is the naturally larger man. With Joe, whole new ball game. 1st, Joe doesn't get tired and he is the same size as RJJ.

When RJJ loses, I hope HBO pans over to Spike Lee so I can celebrate that sorry look on his racists face.

"Rocky" Star Sylvester Stallone - "Calzaghe Will Demolish Jones!"

by James Slater - Over the past few days, it has been very interesting reading what the experts have had to say about tomorrow's hugely intriguing and tough-to-pick Calzaghe-Jones fight. Writers, commentators and fellow fighters, both active and retired, have given their opinion on what will happen in the ring in Madison Square Garden, New York..

Well, in Today's Daily Mail newspaper, movie legend Sylvester Stallone gave his two cents with regards to what will happen in the highly anticipated and heavily hyped super-fight. A big fan of both Calzaghe and his fighting style, the star of the superb "Rocky" films is convinced the Welshman will prevail - and in fine style at that.

"Joe would have worked in any era," Sly began. "He's like one of those classical 1940's fighters who could go 15 rounds comfortably, and he doesn't have to power you out with one shot because he's in unbelievable shape. He will sit there and pepper the hell out of you with an unorthodox style. This (Calzaghe's style of fighting) hasn't been seen in America for some time, so we dismiss it.

"Everyone expects this thudding, crashing, bone-jarring punching style - supposedly this determines if a man is tough. What makes Joe a tougher man in my estimation is that he puts himself in the teeth of the fire for a longer period to achieve his goal. Joe is one of the best boxers of his generation, no question."

High praise indeed from the man whose famous movie creation inspired countless real life fighters to get in the ring in the first place. After speaking of Calzaghe's overall ability and greatness, Stallone focused on the upcoming fight with Roy Jones Junior.

"I've seen Jones shut down huge men like Vigill Hill and I saw him blast John Ruiz almost off his feet, so he definitely has that ability to rock an opponent to his boots," Stallone said. "But that was Roy Jones four, five, six years ago. I don't believe he has the speed any more to catch Calzaghe with the overhand right or one of those weird, sweeping hooks from the floor, similar to the punches from add angles that Naseem Hamed used to throw. He will be easy to back up and he will fight in spurts.

"We have seen the emergence of European boxers, along with Latino boxers, and they have come to far surpass the quality of American boxers. American boxing has to accept that it's a rebuilding process or maybe a downward spiral. Our day of dominance over other nations is over. Joe is going to demolish Jones."

It's not clear whether or not U.S fight fans will agree with what Sly has said, but regarding his picking of Calzaghe over Jones - we will soon find out!

It's really funny when white guys go crazy about black fighters and go out of their way to diss white ones, and then the white fighters go and beat the black fighers' a$$es, then these white fans have this dumb look on their faces like WTF just happened, and they're confused as hell about what to do because they've been in the camp of the enemy (who never liked them even though they turned wigger for them) and the proud white fans won't have them, either. So they just stick to their weak guns instead of admitting they don't know as much about sports as they do about eating Doritos and playing Guitar Hero.

I wouldn't be surprised if some black clowns like Spike Lee call Sly's comments racist. We can never be proud of our people anymore. Also anyone know how I can catch this fight online?Edited by: whiteathlete33

Calzaghe ready for showdown with Jones

From the article:
The affable Welshman has been honing his tremendous hand speed on a machine he developed with one of his childhood friends, Kevin Davies, an amateur boxing coach. Essentially a heavy bag with sensors attached to a computer, the system tracks the number of punches thrown and rates their power.

Calzaghe's best mark? Nearly 1,700 in a three-minute span, or roughly nine punches per second.

"Roy visited the gym, Joe explained the bag to him, and Roy declined when he heard Joe threw nine punches a second," Davies recalled, chuckling. "He looked amazed."
