nope, there's nothing to see here, folks. pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. return to your idiot boxes and pray to Obama three times a day.stay away from horrible "wacko's" who tell you to read the Constitution and urge you to protect the rights assured you in the Bill of Rights.

the Benevolent Protector and the governmentwill take care of everything...

Yes I am sure Jay Rockefeller would love to put the internet genie back in the bottle but he will have a hard time getting it done. He might succeed in certain kinds of censorship of "hate speech" on the internet. These libs never focus on the hate speech that comes out of the Daily Kos or the Huffington Post but instead they would like to get rid of little ol Caste Football.

edit..just to clarify. I don't believe in the term "hate speech" as any kind of legal definition. Free speech is free speech. Our own morality and principles should dictate what speech we use or what words we write and the goverment should have little to no role in determining what we can say or write. The caveat being of course that you can't yell "fire fire" in a crowded movie theatre when there is no fire or slander somebody.

Is porn free speech?

According to porn purveyors it is. Whenever they fought for their right to show it or sell it. You would think Al Goldstein, Larry Flynt or Ron Jeremy were the founding fathers. As they always had the American flag at their press conferences. I seem to recall a pornographic "Mockumentry" on the Declaration of Independence signing.

i think porn, much like rap "music," should be kept from the young in order to protect them. but adults who are dumb enough to waste their money on it should have the right to do so, foolish and degenerateas it is.

Listening to that evil old bastard droning away about "some kid in Latvia" as if that's the most clear and present danger to the USA made me a little ill.

The children of Latvia are not going to destroy this country.

I'm mostly worried about the jews that control our government and their useful idiots like Mr. Rockefeller.

I agree with JC's take.

I don't look at f23k flicks or books and I most definitely can't stand rap. Haven't said that I have a huge problem with people telling me what I should listen to or watch. Thats my stand and I'm sticking with it.

The best way to control a population is to defile the culture of that population. The best way to do that is to defile said cultures art, and music.

I agree and I tend to be on the side of those who would get rid of pornography altogether but I understand the points that others have made here about it being maybe a necessary evil in a free society.

But you know, while we're at, protecting our economic system from cyber attack, why don't we protect our children's minds from the wrong thinking that is promoted by certain websites?

Where's that list, Morris?

His point seems to be a concern about the increasingly computerized and internet dependent system being vulnerable to disruption.

Hock,

it is my opinion that the "points" of Rockefeller's little speech are nothing more than classic mis-direction.

Can Obama shut down the Internet?
Mother Jones said:
The Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (PDF) gives the president the ability to "declare a cybersecurity emergency" and shut down or limit Internet traffic in any "critical" information network "in the interest of national security." The bill does not define a critical information network or a cybersecurity emergency. That definition would be left to the president.

To be utilized during martial law no doubt
