Ridiculous David Price Injury

Would someone explain to me how David Price "injured" his neck while toweling off in the dugout? Price is not a 95 year old in a bad nursing home- he's a multi millionaire who is supposedly a professional athlete. A disabled, out of shape executive would be laughed out of the boardroom if they tried to miss any work time with something like that.

Baseball players have been "injuring" themselves like this for a long time. I believe it was the "great" Ozzie Smith who "pulled" something when he bent over to tie his shoe. Another "athlete" injured something when either his gum or tobacco chew fell out of his mouth. Just before Price this year, Yankee David Robertson suffered a serious foot injury while taking his recylcling trash to the curb. Again, how many middle aged or elderly people would even do that?

Does being an alleged "athlete" today mean that somehow you are much wimpier than the most out of shape fans who cheer for you?

My two favorites are Brandon Marshall injuring his shoulder when he tripped over a McDonald's wrapper, and Thomas Jones breaking his wrist answering the telephone.

As silly as the explanations for these injuries are, they're often merely poorly thought out cover stories to keep the DWFs from knowing the far more embarrassing truth of what their heroes were actually doing, e.g., engaging in criminal activity, attacking a teammate or coach, beating a girlfriend, etc.

Didn't Sammy Sosa break a few ribs by sneezing? And also, Serena Williams had that dubious foot injury where she stepped on some glass while vacationing in Germany, but the circumstances around that were always suspicious.

Serena's "mishap" was even more absurd because it supposedly happened in a restaurant. We're supposed to believe she was walking around barefoot in an expensive German restaurant and then just happened to step on some glass that was just lying there on the carpet. Somehow she didn't see it, no one warned her it was there, and there were no employees cleaning it up. Yes, quite believable. But the corporate media will never look beyond the buffoonish cover stories they dutifully report to find out what really happened, just as they have no interest in knowing whether Serena and Tiger Woods have done steroids.

Don,

This is one point that always intrigues me. The seemingly, absolute incuriousness of people. Doesn't one question naturally follow another in a person's mind? How could a person think of themselves as a journalist if their heads aren't constantly filled with questions?

Basically, I think that's why most people are on such sites as Castefootball. They're asking questions. It would never occur to us to let something so ridiculous as these idiotic "injuries" to go unquestioned.
