So, there it is. The fight is over. Hatton wins with Malinaggi's corner throwing in the towel in the eleventh.

Hatton was meaner than ever. He was not just good, he was crazy good. He went right under Malinaggi's jabs and gored him. Malinaggi was just smothering and hagging on by the end.

If we had no one else to cheer for I guess I would have to cheer for Malinaggi but thankfully we do not. I really dislike Malinaggi's black haircuts and imitation of the black style. He looks like a boy who needs to find himself and appreciate his own heritage, culture, and traditions. In the end -at the end of the fight when he was interviewed by Larry Merchant- he spoke like a white man and acted humble and thanked the British fans for adding atmophere and interest to the fight. For that I will give him credit as he did find himself a bit.

Hatton's interviews are always fun and tonight's was no exception. He said he wants to fight the winner of the Pacquiao/De La Hoya fight. I say great. Cheers!Edited by: Maple Leaf

Excellent performance by Hatton!

It was nice to hear Larry Merchant tonight instead of Kellerman, so there was no discrediting of Hatton.

And it was good to see Dan Iole, in his write-up on yahoo.com, being fair and giving Hatton credit for his performance tonight.

Hopefully we'll see Ricky back in the p4p Ring ratings now!

Here's to you Ricky Hatton. Walking along, singing a song, living in a Hatton Wonderland. I love it. The crowd was awesome and it makes me so proud of our heritage. Whites in America could learn alot from watching the fans of these european fighters. They have unity, pride, and are very happy people. I love the bands, the singing and of course the drinking/cheers as well.


Hatton looked great and I want him to get the winner of theDelahoya fight. Hatton can beat either of these guys in my honest opinion. Here is to the "Hitman" Ricky Hatton!

Good win for Ricky. It just goes to show what he can do against a slick boxer when the ref doesn't stop him everytime he throws a punch

Ideally, Ricky will fight Pacquiao and not Dela Hoya (who is way too big for both Hatton and Pacman). Then maybe he can lure Floyd out of retirement and get revenge for his only loss.

There is a lot of revisionist history on that fight. I watched it and thought it was very close going into the 10th round. The announcers thought the same thing. Also, the ref kept breaking Hatton up whenever he worked his way inside Floyd's jab. A different ref, a different trainer and a different location may help Ricky to beat Floyd next time.

If Malignaggi can not over come his fear of injuring his right hand every time he throws it he may as well retire from boxing. He does not have sufficient power in either hand to KO anybody but he does have enough power to stop their advance for a second so he can move laterally and strike again and yes he can win rounds this way which is how Malignaggi must win a fight. He threw the jab so exclusively that Hatton had it timed very much like a hitter against pitcher who can only throw fast balls. I am glad Ricky one as he is culturally the Whiter of the two but I do however wish the fight had been more competitive push come to shove Malignaggi is still a white fighter.Edited by: Tired old White

He is. They are meeting at 147 (Welterweight). Oscar hasn't fought at 147 since 2001. He's fought as high as 160. He was 150 in his last fight though. Manny was the heaviest of his career his last time out, 134.

Hatton looked like the guy who stopped Tszyu in this fight. Paulie Walnuts just couldn't do anything when he couldn't earn his respect with his power shots. It's funny but Paulie is pure white street kid when he talks(who harkens back to the Lamotta, Graziano era) but his clothing attire is similar to Hector Camacho and that metrosexual look. Also Beetlejuice didn't make an appearance tonight so I guess it was a winning night all around...

I think Oscar "The Rusty Boy" De La Hoya wants to destroy Pacman for defeating several of his Mexican cousins. Even if he does (I hope not) defeat him, it does not change the fact that Pacman is the "Thorn of Mexico", the "Mexican Executioner", the "Mexican Strangler", and the GREATEST ASIAN BOXER ever.

I agree that Oscar is being wimpy in this deal, but in reality (the fight shouldn't even have been made) Oscar probably can't get below 147 anymore. I think he's going as low as he can, with Pac going probably higher than he should have ever gone.

I certainly hope he does get a rematch with floyd maywheather but I'm not sure if the result will be much different. I didn't see hatton land even one clean shot at floyd that's why when I read all these posts about how the referee was preventing hatton from fighting inside I have to ask what fight were all of you watching. To be realistic Hatton was just outclassed in every which way. But I do hope that hatton gets a chance at redemption before he retires.&nbs p;

Hatton clearly lost the Mayweather fight. I do not think anyone is disputing that, but he certainly did land some clean punches and was competitive in the fight for the first 5 rounds or so. In fact, he almost knocked Mayweather down with a hook in the first round.

Not sure if it would be any difference in the end, but if he had a different referee that allowed the fighters to mix it up in close, it would have been a closer fight.

Kudos to Hatton, great performance. He probably would've scored two or three knock downs if Malignaggi didn't clinch so much. And then Paulie had the gall to complain about McGirt stopping the fight. What was he trying to do, hold his way to the final bell? That's not about pride in finishing the fight, that's about ego, about not having a KO on his record.

I was watching ESPN's Friday Night Fights last. Freddie Roach was the studio guest. He made a statement that Ricky Hatton won the first 6 rounds of the Hatton Mayweather fight. Is this so . I watched the fight but the talking heads did nothing but indicate that Mayweather won every round. I do remember seeing any of the judges scores

As I recall, Mayweather was getting the better of it, although Ricky was in the fight. No way Ricky won the first six rounds. Roach is just trying to make Pacman's victory over Ricky look even better than it was.
