Can’t say anything negative about Henderson. As a kid growing up in the early 90s he was one of my favorite baseball players. As far as I know he never used PEDs and was natural. He also played at a very high level in the pre-juiced ball era back when baseball still reigned supreme as America’s past time. RIP

This was really shocking and surprising. Especially considering he was still an effective player in his 40s. He was a truly unique, iconic player.

Well, he did play with McGwire and Canseco, but he's never been accused of PEDs that i know of. But who knows.

I'm a huge fan of stolen bases, and he was more than just a base stealer. Complete player. An all time great. Probably the greatest leadoff hitter.

Henderson between the lines was what you wanted in a player as he was an iron man who never whined about injuries and never wanted to rest. He or Cobb are probably the best small ball players in the history of the game. They talk all of the time of about unbreakable records and his steal totals are probably near the top of that list as nobody plays that style anymore and even the few who do are not nearly as proficient at it as Henderson was.

The only complaints I had about Henderson was that he never wanted to honor his contracts I remember one scene that was almost comical where Mac and Canseco had a mason jar stuffed full of small bills and presented it to Henderson who hugged the jar like it was a new born baby while Henderson complained to the cameras that the clubhouse cared more about him than the club. I think in the end he got a new contract and got the raise he wanted. The totals are almost comical now with Ohtani and Soto contracts as he got about 4 million per year in 1990.

Anyway a bit of shocker considering he looked reasonably fit for a man of his age in recent public appearances.
