I just thought I'd pass along this outrageous comment regarding Vince Young from Rich McKay... I suppose the fact that Ron Mexico SUCKS as a QB has nothing to do with why other teams are not flocking towards Black QB's who can't throw.

Atlanta general manager Rich McKay also believes that Young's unique set of skills could wind up being trendsetting over the long haul.

"He's a big man with a big arm,'' McKay said. "In 10 years, I believe you're going to see a lot more Vince Youngs and Michael Vicks in the game. You don't see it now, because people are scared of [their style of quarterbacking].''

I saw that too, all the same talk that followed Vick into the league has followed Young into the NFL. Everyone said Vick was going to change the QB position in the NFL but it has not happened. It is just another cop out since Vick has not been the Negro Superhero everyone was making him out to be so they have appointed Young the next black superman. Young wont have the privelge of playing in the weak big 12 conference and will get destroyed if he tries to run outside of the pocket. I am so sick of everyone thinking these black qbs are so much better than white qbs.

yeah, we need more QBs like Ben Roethlisberger, big guys with big arms and athletic enough! not Youngs and Vicks

Being tired of the Vince Young bashing, Terry Bowden wrote a column praisinghim. He sums up his thoughts in typical Caste fashion.Taking all his attributes together, you'll findYoungis taller, bigger, faster, stronger and prettier than white quarterbacks. No black QB's were used as negative comparisons.

Bowden: So, what do I know about Vince Young?

I know:

He is taller than Dan Marino.

He is bigger than Terry Bradshaw.

He is faster than Brett Favre.

He has a stronger arm than Joe Montana.

He has a prettier release than Bernie Kosar (OK, that's debatable).
Edited by: Bart

Young is dumber than all of the above. His IQ may be half of Bernie Kosar's. Notice he didn't say he was better at anything than any black quarterback.

If you take the average Negro iq, and let's even bump it up to 100 taking into account "cultural bias"
smiley2.gif
then you extrapolate that over the sample of all the Negro players in the NFL who have taken the Wonderlic over the years.... Vince Young's six is at or near the bottom. Therefore its safe to assume that he has a less then average iq for a Negro football athelete and therefore is highly likely to be somewhere between 80-100. The media's need for a great black QB leads us to yet another "Revolutionary" functional retard who will never amount to more then a season or two of marginal numbers and a bogus Pro-Bowl berth or two. Maybe someday the opportunities being given to Negro's at the QB position will pan out and a few successfull guys will emerge, but at the expense of how many White QB's who will be labeled as "unathletic" and "too slow" to play this disorganized style of ball that our upside-down society seems to crave. Give me a pocket passer any day and properly coached he will pick apart a defense far more effectively then a duck, chuck and truck "athlete" like Young, Vick, Culpepper, Stewart, etc.

"He has a stronger arm than Joe Montana. "

Yeah, but so what?

Montana never had that strong of an arm, he didn't need to since he only made short passes in the West Coast Offense and he was more then capable of doing that.

McKay is correct: you WILL see more Vince Youngs and Mike Vicks in the NFL over the next ten years. And he is correct in saying that this trend is "revolutionary."

By focusing solely on perceived "athleticism," which can be defined these days as "runs fast and jumps high," the NFL is headed in the same direction as the NBA. With more Youngs and Vicks taking snaps, the NFL will soon be an un-watchable mess, just like the "high-flyin', rim-shakin', no-fundamental-playin'" NBA.

I really don't know about that southern knight. It is obvious that the athlete at the QB position cannot cut it in the NFL. The speed of the game is to fast. Vick has been ok in the NFL but there is nothing revolutionary about him. He is just a glorified RB who has the ability to throw the ball. Great athletes on the defensive side of the ball will not allow for running afflete qb's to become the trend in the NFL. Urlacher has shut down Vick on more than one occasion and I cannot wait to see AJ Hawk knocking the likes of McNabb, Vick, Culpepper, McNair and especially Vince Young to the ground. Its obvious that the QB's who win the SB are the ones who stay strong in the pocket, deliver the ball and are not afraid to get hit. The black qb is a skittish player who shys away from contact. Thats what I look at anyways. Brains and a good arm go way furthur than legs in the NFL.

I am pretty sure they are being thought of as WR's. McNeal thinks he can play QB but he will have a career like Seneca Wallace's if he does.

pittbc7: I intended my comment to be facetious. When I said that the influx if black QB's would be "revolutionary", I meant revolutionary in a negative sense (hence the NBA, speed-over-skill comparison).

There is a lot of talk around the league that McKay is considered to be a strong candidate to succeed Tagliabue as league commish. Perhaps his verbal fellating of the black QBs is a carefully-calculated expression of his devotion to the caste, so that the owners know that he's "with the program," and, thus, qualified to serve as commissioner. (I'm joking).
