Rare Elvis Clip

I got this from a site that claims he was drunk at the time, which I doubt. I have my own thoughts about why he behaves like this, but nevertheless, I think it is a great clip and shows how he could work an audience even when he wasn't at his best. I have heard this on the original LP for years, but never saw it on video until yesterday.

That clip was in the Elvis special, "This is Elvis". He did that concert six weeks before he died. That same night he did a version of the song "My Way" that is still the best version I have ever heard.

Elvis had been having trouble in concerts long before that night. He often read the lyrics off a sheet of paper when he sang. He didn't even try to hide it from the audience. He would blow through his standard hits so he could get to his gospel songs.

He wasn't drunk that night either. He was high on his prescription meds.

I bought a tape called "Elvis in '56". It shows all the Elvis appearances during that year. It was the last year Elvis would make public appearances. It is a great tape.
