The Angels beat the Twins 6-2 last night and Albert Pujols went 2-for-5 with two RBI, bringing his average up to a blistering .198. Following the final out, the usual high-fives were doled out, but shortstop Erick Aybar opted for an elbow tap that Pujols did not appreciate. The struggling first baseman responded by angrily throwing his glove at Aybar and walking off, seemingly in a huff.
SI’s Will Carroll was quick to point out that the tapped elbow was the one he had fixed a couple years ago, so perhaps it’s still a little tender? Regardless, I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen a player throw a glove at another person since fourth grade. Never thought Albert Pujols, in his 12th year in the majors, would be playing the role of emotionally unhinged little brother.
