Piglet Serena Williams Female afflete of the year

There's no link in WA33's post, at least in my version of IE, but I saw the article in my paper and what struck me was that a horse came in second in the voting.

Doesn't say much for the state of women's athletics despite 40 years of non-stop feminist policies and propaganda. There's really very few American White girls to root for in high profile sports -- none in tennis, a few in golf -- who get ignored infavor ofMichelle Wie -- no track stars that I'm aware of, no a pretty sad state of affairs.

The link works for me Don. She received 66 votes out of a panel of 180 members of the Associated Press. That is quite a lot since the next closest one was 18 votes. It's just more propaganda to make blacks out to be the best athletes and over represent them in all forms of media and entertainment. Personally I would have voted for Diana Taurasi.d She averaged 22 ppg in the WNBA this past season. Sue Bird is another very good white female basketball player.

The situation is the same with women as it is with men in the US. All of the best tennis players and female sprinters are from Europe.

Not sayingthe linkdoesn't work, saying I can't even see it on your post. Must be a browser glitch.

I wouldn't say it's a propaganda thing. Who deserved it more than Williams? She won two Grand Slam events. When a horse comes in second that doesn't say much for the quality of the competition. I don't follow women's basketball so maybe Taurasi deserved it more.

The WNBA doesn't have much of a fan base, but it's not from a lack of trying by the media. The NBA footed some of the bill for the league for a while, and the media has always given it a lot more coverage than it deserved. I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN has given the WNBA more minutes of coverage than it has the NHL. I think those that "expected" the league to take off are the usual suspects who disproportionately promote black athletes in general and the NFL and NBA in particular.
Taurasi is well known, but interest inwomen's basketball is confined to a tiny portion of the population; there are a lot more tennis fans than WNBA fans. But being the league MVP and leading her team to the championship for the second time in three years certainly makes her worthy of being in the discussion. My point was about the state of White female American athletes in general when a horse finishes second in the voting.

That is pretty sad stuff that a horse finished second in voting. The top 3 scorers in the league this past season in the WNBA were white women. The WNBA unlike the NBA actually has quite a few white stars.

Fine...let her have it! At least her 2009 will be more remembered for that nasty spat at the 2009 US Open. But, as usual, the media will just downplay it, and all will soon be forgiven and forgotten. Unless one is a white athlete, such actions can easily be forgiven.

I've seen some posters say nasty comments about the WNBA, things like:

"If you want FUNDAMENTALS, watch the WNBA!"
"If you want excitement, watch the NBA!"

The only differences I see between the two leagues are...

Gender, Speed, and...Dunks!

Skill-wise, these women can kick any ordinary guy's butt!
