PG - Ryan Arcidiacono

Ryan Arcidiacono is a 6'-3" point guard from Neshaminy HS in Langhorne, Pennsylvania who has committed to the 2012 class of Villanova. He caught my eye because he is ranked 34th overall by (B)ESPN and he has some of the best handle I've seen since a young Jason Williams. Serious crossovers. I can also see a bit of Jimmer Fredette but with better vision as a point guard.

Arcidiacono has been starting right away for Villanova and already leads the team in scoring from the point guard position!! His numbers so far through 4 games:

33.8 minutes per game
16.3 points per game
4.5 assists per game
1.0 steal per game
.349 FG%
.893 FT%
.333 3P%
3.8 turnovers per game

The 2 statistics I put in bold are the areas he needs immediate improvement in, especially the turnovers. From the Purdue game, which I watched, it seemed he will sometimes force the issue and over-dribble. While it's great he has confidence in his handle and can beat double teams, sometimes it's better to pass. Jimmer Freddette used to do this sometimes as well. Anyway, he's been far better than anyone could have expected and should be a stud very soon, if he isn't already.

I wanted to give this thread I started way back in early 2011 a bump.

Ryan has a had a great career for Villanova and gets to play his final game as a Wildcat for the National Championship. He's clearly the leader of this team as coach Wright has said it's like having a 2nd coach on the floor with Ryan. In addition to this Championship game appearance, Ryan won the 14/15 season co-Big East Player of the Year award. He's also been named 1st team All-Big East (2015), 2nd team All-Big East (2016) and Big East All-rookie team (2013). He leaves with career totals of 11.1 PPG, 3.7 APG and 1.2 SPG while shooting .357% for 3 pointers.

On a side note, I came across this quote from the other day from Ryan while addressing questions from the media:

"Yeah, for sure. You'll have to ask my opponents. My first couple of years, yeah, this small little white guy on the floor. I can't really say because I'm not going up against myself. If I see another white guy on the floor, I don't think he stinks. They can think what they want. I definitely get a lot of hate from being the white guy from Twitter. People just don't like a good, white basketball player. I don't know why."

It's really sad and frustrating that White athletes (really White people in general) face so much hate nowadays. From all accounts, Ryan is a great guy that anyone would easily like. It makes me sick that racist blacks and jealous White cucks harass him. Is it so hard for these scumbags to just admit he's got game and move on?

Good thread and eye for talent Freethinker! His career and in particular this tourney run have been spectacular, He's shooting 58% from behind the arc! Add 4 year captain to his list of accomplishments.

It would be nice if this kid could get drafted to an nba team that would give him a fair shot to become the starting point guard. At 6'4 Ryan has the size/length to go with good athletecism. I could see him transitioning to the next level without too much difficulty. The question is will there be any interest? Hope to see him play pro ball next year.

It would be nice if this kid could get drafted to an nba team that would give him a fair shot to become the starting point guard. At 6'4 Ryan has the size/length to go with good athletecism. I could see him transitioning to the next level without too much difficulty. The question is will there be any interest? Hope to see him play pro ball next year.

No. He doesn't have the requisite melanin level to successfully translate to the "next level" as a point guard. You see, even though he dominated competition at the collegiate level, even those players who will be drafted before him and become instant starters, he will not achieve the mystical magical transformation that occurs when his name is called on draft day that occurs to affletes. Sure, he could run the floor just like at Villanova, but that "extra something" will be missing, and he won't be a "defensive stopper" like all of those athletic-looking players that let the ball go straight to the hoop.

Since I didn't know his given name I assumed he was a South American import from Argentina or maybe Venezuela or Brazil. He never looked like a full blooded Italian to me. I'm assuming his mother isn't Italian and he isn't swarthy at all like the coach of Villanova.
