Not to put Vickers down, but I think someone earlier today said that Bell has .5 yards per carry. This dude can try to degrade Hillis' ability all he wants, but I want to know why every single other RB the Browns play doesn't even come near Hillis' production.
Again, not to put Vickers down. He's doing a great job.Edited by: DWFan

Great video only about two minutes long. Watch till the end, they break down Peyton's greatness on the big screen. It pretty cool, Jamie Dukes even says something like "the comparisons to Alstott arent true, this guy is a tailback and a tailback you want on your team" or something to that effect.

Nice! Jamie Dukes just went up a couple notches in my estimation. Even if he was only reading a script prepared by someone else, he read it convincingly. I think I'll watch that video again right now.

The DWFs don't understand (or care) that there's a Caste System in U.S. sports, but a significant segment of them root for White RBs and WRs when they see them.

Browns' Peyton Hillis has captured the hearts of Clevelanders

By Rob Oller/The Columbus Dispatch, Ohio
Barely four months removed from "The Decision" and Cleveland has another sellout, this one an NFL jersey with the number 40 stitched across the front and back.

Calls to multiple Cleveland-area sporting-goods stores, as well as one in Columbus, came up empty, which is to say every store had sold out of Peyton Hillis jerseys less than a week after the burly third-year running back led the Browns to a stunning 34-14 win Sunday over the New England Patriots [team stats].

Leave it to a knight in shining orange and brown armor to make Cleveland sports fans forget about a King.

LeBron who? Believeland is crazy for Hillis, the coolest thing in Cleveland since Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert e-mailed his stinging anti-James attack ad to Cavs fans the night LeBron broke ranks.

One Cleveland store sold all 24 of its $80 jerseys within two days of Hillis rushing for 184 yards on 29 carries against the Patriots. To date, he has 644 yards and seven touchdowns, with a 4.8-yard average per attempt.

One store in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake had two Hillis jerseys still in stock.

"But they'll be gone before you can get here," the salesperson said.

One could correctly reason that Hillis' popularity is a case of being able to produce in the right place (emotionally hurting Cleveland) at the right time (when the sports teams are borderline abysmal). But there is more to it than luck. Hillis epitomizes what this proud industrial city holds dear and defines the way it thinks; that is, he is a throwback playing in a town that cherishes its past.

Because the Browns have no championships to celebrate over the past four decades, their fans cling to the memory of Lou Groza, Paul Warfield and Frank Ryan. Where other cities have replaced their dusty heroes with a modern variety, Cleveland's long-ago legends remain framed on the rec room wall.

But early indications are that Hillis is a back to the future.

"Peyton Hillis is the best hard runner the Browns have had since Jim Brown or Leroy Kelly," said Glenn Geiger, president of the Buckeye Browns Backers fan club in Dublin.

Jim Brown represents the Babe Ruth of Cleveland sports (Browns founder Paul Brown merits George Washington status). He is the pearl of great price that no one -- not even Steelers fans and their six rings -- can steal. So anyone who reminds Clevelanders of Jim Brown is going to be worshipped, and hundreds of fans are building their altars to the 6-foot-1, 240-pound Arkansas cannonball by buying his jersey.

"I've been on eBay trying to find one, and sometimes they're at a halfway decent price," Geiger said. "But the sizes are kind of whacked. Most are super small or something like that."

I asked if "something like that" included XXXL.

"Super big would fit more Browns fans than super small," he said. "Look in the stands in Cleveland. They're kind of large."

Large and back in charge. The Browns are relevant again.

Before getting carried away, it must be noted that Cleveland is 3-5 and realistically -- not that Browns fans are realists -- are looking at a record no better than 8-8. But this season's record, while important, is not the essence of the anticipation. That enthusiasm rests with Hillis, rookie quarterback Colt McCoy and a young and improving defense. The sense is that Cleveland finally has a football future. The Browns can build on this bunch, which takes its identity from Hillis.

"He runs the ball, and he gets you fired up doing it," Browns center Alex Mack said.

Hillis has the look of a Larry Csonka but with better vision and more emotion. He is John Riggins with better feet. Some call him Cleveland's great white hope, but it is errant to bring race into the equation because Hillis is as much Brown as he is white.
Even his jersey is available in those two colors. Or was.

That's a good article, Don. I found yet another great Hillis article. I wont post all of it, but its def worth checking out. Gets into Peyton's personal life. He seems like the alpha male weve been dying to to have represent us at the HALFBACK position.

Just a snipet from a great article:

No one talks about Hillis' time at the University of Arkansas much, if only because it was the time when Hillis didn't add many chapters to his legend. Hillis was a fullback for two pretty decent running backs, Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. Both are also in the NFL, and McFadden was runner-up in Heisman Trophy voting in 2006 and 2007.

Hillis, meanwhile, endured a freshman season where he suffered a broken bone in his back and a junior season where he played with a painful calcium deposit in his thigh. His sophomore season, he talked of moving to linebacker for more opportunities to play.
"It taught him how to be patient," Doug Hillis said. "It taught him to be a better person. At that time, it was killing him. He knew he could play, and he knew if given the shot, he could make the most of it. He just got covered up with the other two players. He liked them very much; it was just a fact that knowing what you can do and not being able to do it . . . it just killed him."

Nice video...Dukes said what I have been saying...he's the "total package" a RB...have been totally stoked about him...he is making the NFL fun again!

Have Hillis on my FFL team...got him with last pick before the season started...missed out on his Ravens preformance bec he wasn't getting enough carries previously; but he came thru HUGE last week! Need him vs the NY Jets this week!Edited by: TwentyTwo

I like what he is saying, but don't like the fact that he doesn't think Alstott was the complete package. Alstott could have been a great feature back, he was more shifty than given credit for, Hillis does have more athleticism and straight line speed though. I love the fact that Hillis is being compared to some great black runningbacks and not just white ones, but it gives the impression that Hillis is just a rarity, and guys like Csonka or Riggins wouldn't perform well into today's NFL. There is a way to prop up guys like Hillis without putting down the greats of the past. It is good to see that most people are finally realizing that Hillis is the real deal though, an elite back.

These articles are nice to see, but I do see quite a bit of "anomaly" talk, meaning that Peyton Hillis is a one off player, the one White RB that exemplifies the exception and proves the rule that blacks are almost always better. I'm glad not every article puts it that way, and I hope it changes to where we quit seeing this stereotypical caste-ease BS.

I am taking a road trip next Sunday to watch Hillis tear up the Jaguars. Me and my 2 boys are going to watch "white thunder" destroy the Jaguars at home. I can hardly wait to watch this beast live as he destroys a mostly black opponent. I suggest to all of you on this board to try and catch a Hillis game in person you never know when this ride of his might end abruptly like so many other white athletes of the past.

Yeah, and Vickers helps Hillis make those terrific catches out of the backfield too.

Truly amazing, indeed...just like the fullback in Denver that played a big part of Hillis' success there, too

I'm sure most of you have seen the Peyton Hillis videos at Youtube. This one shows him in a Denver uniform without Vickers and also contains highlights with him on the Browns. He's got his own version of the 'Leonard Leap' going. Impressive for such a big man.

So how often do we see articles about how RB X owes most of his success to the blocking of FB Y? Pretty much never. But, of course, you had to know this one was coming:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/515949-the-best-part-about-peyton-hillis-is-lawrence-vickers

<H1 id=article-title>The Best Part About Peyton Hillis Is Lawrence Vickers</H1>
While Josh Cribbs, Peyton Hillis and Colt McCoy are the poster boys for the new Browns, there is still one player that has been pushing this team forward. Lawrence Vickers is by the far the most underrated fullback there is the game today. .... all three of those guys would be nothing without Vickers. ... Hillis is a tough S.O.B, but Vickers is tougher. Hillis is packing tape to Vickers' duct tape...

Blah blah blah same old BS.

Pay no attention to anything negative written on Bleacher Report. It's a site where anyone-- and I literally mean ANYONE-- can write a story. You or I can write a story on Bleacher Report tonight; it means absolutely nothing. Most of the articles are for DWFs by DWFs.

JC, if you posted it on Bleacher Report, you, or whoever did post it, should make clear that the article was written in August of 2008, before Hillis ever played in the NFL. Right now it's dated November 13, 2010, which is going to confuse those reading it. There should be an introductory paragraph explaining that before the article begins. The fact that it was written when it was makes it more powerful, and everyone who reads it on Bleacher Report should understand that before they read it rather than thinking it's brand new.

Add this to the growing list of positive articles about Peyton:

http://www.northjersey.com/sports/107654558_Bruising_Hillis_has_Jets_on_Brown_alert.html

My favorite part:

"The physical way he runs, with that body, as a tackler you can't win," Adams said of Hillis, his teammate with the Cleveland Browns. "If you go high, he bowls you over. If you go low, he jumps over you. If you come from the side, he's able to just shrug you off and leave you there on the ground.

"The way he's playing right now, he can punish you no matter how you try to stop him."

The Jets are the ones faced with that challenge Sunday in Cleveland. Several of the league's best defenses have already tried and failed to slow down Hillis on the ground.

Let's hope Hillis has another big game tomorrow. I have not been this excited about NFL football in a long, long time.
