A white, or nearly all-white Hilliard-Davidson from the Columbus area defeated 99% white Mentor from the eastern suburbs of Cleveland, 36-35 in the state big-school championship game. Hilliard won largely on a 250 yard, 5 TD performance from their white rb, Bo Delande. Delande gained a ton of yards this year and ran for a load of TDs. I'm not sure of his official stats, but they're in the 2000, 30 range.
He did this against a Mentor team that doesn't play a single black at any skill position- the community is almost exclusively white. Mentor, it should be known twice defeated Troy Smith's all black, inner city Glenville, holding them to a combined 31 points in two games.
How then is it possible that a white rb (Delande) runs for 250 and 5 TDs against Mentor when Glenville, loaded with "great athletes" with "great speed" and many big college recruits, could only muster 31 points in two games, losing twice?
Incidentally, Delande is listed as 6' 180# and interestingly not among Ohio's top recruits. As far as I can tell he's not being strongly recruited.
