Hey occ, I cannot root for OSU with the overrated troy smith at the helm. I am not sure of the number of whites on OSU but ND beats them out in pretty much every category. Until I get real proof Anthony Gonsalez is of European spanish origin I cannot root for him either.

Yeah I forgot Smith was their QB... but other than ND or OSU I can't think of any majority white teams that have a real shot.. Iowa? They always seem to underachieve though...

Why is everbody so hung up on wether Tony Gonzalez is white or not. He looks the part, balding in his early 20s lol, and plays the part(4.0 GPA last quarter). This guy runs a 4.2 40 and will show everyone that white guys can run fast. When people are watching him light up secondaries this fall they're not going to be saying wow what a fast guy I wonder if hes white. They'll just presume he is because he has white ass skin brotha. Tony is a model citizen and I will always be rooting for him no matter what.

i agree with whiteCB. Tony Gonzalez is a white man, and i wish him all the success in the world.

I knew a girl in college who looked as white as him but she had a hispanic father from mexico who looked like Cheech. Her last name was also Gonzales...I am just throwing it out there and I am not trying to be rude about it though. I hope you all understand.

But ESPN doesn't hail him as the great Mexican player so he must be white, because if he was a Mexican you'd hear about it every 10 seconds..

I understand. A Hispanic person can look white and still be considered non-white by the masses. For example, many people consider Jeff Garcia and Cameron Diaz to be "Hispanic." I have no problem with the guy, and I hope he torches all those black corners. But his success probably won't have much impact on the Caste System. And if he were lined up against a defensive back who is "un-ambiguously" white, I would root for the white defender.

lol. Yeah that's it that comment right there was the clincher. I mean seriously ESPN would be all over that sh^t if Gonzalez was Mexican. Oh yeah just thought I'd add that Tony is a legit candidate for the Rhodes Scholar award has he's had four 4.0 quarters during his stay at The Ohio State University. He gets it done on and off the field.

i thought we were talkin notre dame???..........Brady Quinn is the new superstar white athlete...you cant look at him and say he isnt as close to a mickey mantle type of idol that there is...he is phyisically perfect...the best quarterback i have seen in college in a VERY long time....(i hate matt lienart) and has broken a ton of records...(plus the girls love him) not to mention he plays on a mostly white team that just happens to be the most storied school in college football history...I would also like to gibe you a few reasons why he will succeed in the NFL....

1st and formost is his amazing talent...poise arm strength...accuracy...and overall talent and the aura he has about him....

2nd is the fact that he has already seen as much pressure as just about anyone else has being that he plays for notre dame

3rd is that he has already been through adversity going thru 2 bad seasons when he first got to notre dame

4th is that even though he didnt have talent around him at first (most likely this will also be the case in the NFL) he still was very productive.

please post comments because i think this guy is the total package...looks...athletasism...build...poise...charecter... and most of all is his talent... he has been my favorite athlete since Vitali Klitschko retired

I agree that if he were a descendant of Central or south america, that would be all over ESPN as another way to promote football in the barrio. Because, of course, without that fan base, football can't last.

Would still prefer he have an Scots-Irish, Polish or German name though.

I know people who went to high school with TG, the kid is as white as anyone on this board!

Oh man gotta love the St.Iggy kids(those arrogant little you know what). lol

So his parents are white as anyone on this board too JoeV? lol jk I guess the name kind of scares me but everyone is right about the whole espn making a big deal of it if he was more ethnic looking.

Why would ESPN obsess over one Hispanic college wide receiver? They have plenty of outlets to worship Hispanic athletes. They are almost all of the biggest stars in baseball, and many of the biggest names in boxing.

I never, ever thought I'd say or write these words, but I am eagerly and sincerely looking forward to Notre Dame football this year!

The ESPN and Faux Sports talkers will find bad things to say about Brady Quinn. He's just too Wonder Bread white. They'll have to hype a "Sammy Sosa" for diversity's sake.

He's got a white afro looks white to me. Can't wait to root for Tony, one of the few starting white WRs in the Big Ten this fall.

So in the mind of the average sports fan he's "Cuban," which means "Hispanic," which means "non-white" (true or not.) We can root for him as a "white man," but the majority of people may not have the same perception. Whatever.

One of ND's recruits is QB Jimmy Clausen, considered the number 1 recruit in the country on the Rivals100 2007 list.

With the recent commitment from Justin Trattou, Notre Dame has upped its total to 5 white commitments out of 7 total.... All are very highly rated.
