I'm sure most of you have seen the incredible non-call on Derek Fisher, who almost beheaded Brett Barry at the end of game 4 in the Lakers-Spurs series. I have never seen a play where such obvious contact occurred, especially to a player's head, with no foul called. It cost the Spurs the game, and probably the series.
Does anyone here think if the roles had been reversed, and Brett Barry's arm had landed hard on Derek Fisher's head, as he threw up a long 3-pointer, that the refs would have let it go? Actually, since Barry is white and thus not permitted to play defense in the NBA (except when guarding another white player), he would have been called for a foul if he came within a foot of Fisher (or any other black player in the league).
