Here is a great article on Nick Hartigan. He wants a chance to run the ball.He has worked out for some nfl scouts but they still see him as a fullback. What the hell is wrong with these scouts. He rushed for over 1700 yards and scored countless td's.He runs a 4.53 in the 40 and bench pressed 225 lbs twenty five times. The NFL is totally clueless.Give this kid the ball and watch him run. Here is the link.

I learned from Sean Bennett that the Jets may keep one, but with little opportunity for impact. He could be pretty good though.

One thing about being on the bubble if you played in the Ivy league, coaches know your coachable. He may get on the practice squad because of this alone. If he can get on the practice squad being suited up is a matter of time in that position.

Nick Hartigan is still listed as a running back with the training camp about to start. He is number 31 and is listed at 6'2 and 220lbs.Martin is hurt and the guys ahead of him haven't shown great potential as of yet.Let's hope the Jets can be color blind and give Nick alot of carries.I would love to see him start at least one preseason game but I'm not going to get my hopes up.He is still at best 4th string as of right now.

Curtis Martin was put on the PUP list yesterday. The black running backs after Martin are all scrub types. The JEts were the team that gave Chrebet a chance, maybe history will repeat with Nick Hartigan.

he is definitely good enough to play. all he needs is a fair shot, which is all any player can ask for.

I was in a rare optimistic mood when posting this.

Look whats happened to Lumsden, screwed again even before training camp opens. Last year he was cut before the preseason games even started, Hartigan will get the same treatment. When they somehow aren't screwed over in college the NFL always finishes the job.

I wonder if Hartigan, Lumsden and other talented white RBs realize that there is a caste system setup in the NFL effectively eliminating almost any chance of playing. They have got to be demonstrating more skill than these 2nd or 3rd string black RBs in camp. Err this pisses me off. I wish some former players, coaches, scouts, ect. would step up and expose this reverse discrimination soon to the main stream media!

This blurb is from an article in today's Star Ledger. There is no mention of Hartigan anywhere in the article.

Martin, 33, said he has every intention of helping the Jets this season, his 12th in the NFL. He says the fire is still roaring. And the Jets can certainly use him since they have no playmaker on offense and are hoping Derrick Blaylock, Cedric Houston or rookie Leon Washington will emerge as Martin's heir apparent.

Based on the aforementioned, I would estimate Hartigan's chances of acutally getting a fair shot to be " the heir apparent to Martin" to equal that of a quadriplegic.

On measurables alone, Hartigan is definitely bigger and likely faster than the three backs mentioned.

However, in addition to his pigmentation disorder, he is an ivy leaguer. Another no-no in a league where ignorance and IQs bordering on mental retardation is embraced.

Hartigan is just a warm body in camp. My prediction is he will be gone by the end of the third preseason game.

From what I hear, they love Washinton. He will be 2nd string and who knows about Hartigan. This sucks so bad. It's the same old crap every year.Nick Hartigan is a star if they would just let him carry the ball.

Another update on Hartigan from today's ESPN.com. Actually, he's not even mentioned in an article about Martin's possible retirement.

"Rather than preparing for a future without Martin, the Jets chose the 5-foot-8 Leon Washington in the fourth round, but he is undersized and working behind Blaylock and Cedric Houston. None of the three seems to be the type who can carry the entire rushing load on their shoulders, so the Jets have put out feelers around the league for running backs.

One name that has come up is Titans back Chris Brown, who had his trade request declined. Still, there is no one available now who is the type of marquee, featured back the Jets want. They had one in LaMont Jordan, but let him go as a free agent last year."

I finally saw Hartigan's name mentioned in the paper here today under a training camp blotter section called "Who's not hot".

A whole three words followed Hartigan's name prefaced by FB. Here is the quote: " FB Nick Hartigan had a fumble."

Well at least Hartigan has already been relegated to his proper role before having his name placed on the waiver wire.

Maybe if he's lucky he'll last past the first cut, before having to put that Brown education to use in the real world.

Zero rushing attempts for Hartigan tonight. . .I should have known better than to link to an article claiming that a white tailback on a team desperate for running back help would actually get to touch the ball.
