Matt Jones is proving he can be a solid receiver as long as he's give a chance. He's easily one of the best athletes the NFL has ever seen. I think he would do even better if he wasn't on Africa's team.

How come the televised NFL games are only on local Fox networks now, if your don't have cable? I haven't watched NFL games on TV for a long time, but I remember they used to be on CBS and FOX on Sundays, and ABC on Monday nights.

The Chargers are down from 5 white starters on defense to 3. Stephen Cooper is back from a 4 game suspension, which means Derek Smith is now a backup. Matt Wilhelm lost his starting job to Tim Dobbins.

Besides the rookie phenom Matt Ryan -- who could end up being the best rookie QB ever -- two other great stories so far are Kyle Orton and Aaron Rodgers.


The expectations for Orton were so low as to be ridiculous. Please don't be worse than Rex Grossman was about the best anyone hoped for. Orton has always reminded me of Drew Brees because both went to Purdue and both are very smart and neither is a great "athlete" in the stereotyped and inaccurate way it's definedby the media. The expectations for Brees were also very low and he was even universally dismissed by the Caste media and the drunk white fans as a bust and now look at him. Orton has played great the past two games.


Rodgers is in his first season as a starter andis playing witha bad right shoulder but has beenmore than solidso far.


There are a lot of other positive QB story lines unfolding. Kurt Warner is playing very well, Jay Cutler is close to elite status, same with Eli Manning, Chad Pennington is leading a resurgent Dolphins team, Trent Edwards is really developing, Matt Schaub is coming on, Jake Delhomme has come back well from Tommy John surgery, and Brett Favre still has a lot left in the tank.

The fact that this a QB led/driven league, and the fact that virtually all the QBs right now are white and doing very well gives me great pleasure. It's doesn't make up for the lack of whites on other positions, but the one position that truly and ultimately matters, is 90% white, despite the best efforts by the media and others. Look at Minn and Tenn, both ditched their scrub black QBs, and are now consistently winning. By my count, there are 4 black starting QBs in the NFL right now, which means 88% of the starting QBs are white, the way it should be.

I don't watch much NFL, and I tend to look up the stats (of White athletes) on Monday morning.

From watching Sportscenter's highlight package (and the showing of "some" stats afterward) of the Texans/Dolphins game, I got the impression that Kevin Walter did nothing. I dreaded looking up his stats. I should have known better!

Turns out, Walter had 4 receptions for 98 yards - with his longest catch being 30 yards. I'm glad he was used as a deep threat. I like it when our athletes have a high YPC average.

It's disappointing to see a stat line like 7 catches for 69 -- which is what Matt Jones had.

I heard on the radio that Orton has thrown two TD passes in every game he has started. I went to NFL.com to check it out. He has thrown 3, 2, and 1 TD's since he started in week four of this year. He has 2 INT in that time and six sacks. Overall quarterback rating of 87.9.

The offense looked atrocious against Detroit until Peterson and Berrian turned it on in the final 20 minutes of the game. Quarterback Gus Frerotte's 296 passing yards look a lot better than they actually were. Peterson and Berrian saved the day.

Uh... how is Bernard Berrian going to save the day as a receiver unless his quarterback gets him the ball? How is it that Berrian looks good but Frerotte's 296 yards passing look 'better than they actually were?' Did Berrian play special teams or something? Did he get the ball from behind center? Eh?

With three receptions Sunday, Bush became the fastest running back in league history to 200 receptions, and he added two touchdowns, giving him four in his last two games. Say what you want about his per-carry rushing average, he has rounded into one of the most exciting players in the NFL.

Sort of like saying about your quarterback, who cares how many incomplete passes he throws, or his TD/INT ration, he's an exciting player! We have to have him in the backfield!

This article cites Javon Walker as one of the worst free agent signings in NFL history, with 5 catches for 59 yards this season. I know he's been out with injury but have the Raiders done much in the passing game AT ALL with Fatmarcus Russell at quarterback?

I took a look at Russell's stats so far this season. He is ranked 23rd in the league, but what's most interesting is his completion percentage - exactly 50%. Only three quarterbacks have a worse percentage than Russell: Hasselbeck, Anderson, and Thigpen who for all intents and purposes are having an atrocious season, comparatively speaking.

The only reason Hester was in the game was because Sproles was hurt. Hester fumbled on his first carry - only his 2nd carry all season. The next series, Turner gave 3 straight carries to the fullback. The Chargers were up 20 with less than 2 minutesso fumbling wasn't an issue. Why not give the rookie some carries?

Hester committed the cardinal sin for white players; any mistake is crucial to what little chances you have for playing time. Remember when Mike Alstott was criticized relentlessly some years ago for his fumbling? Alstott had been very successful, given the limited number of carries he was permitted, but he was raked over the coals, far more than fumbling artists like Ahman Green ever were.

If you're white and drop any pass (see Matt Jones), you can be benched immediately, despite the fact that slow, pedestrian black WRs drop multiple passes every game. If you're that rare white safety, any pass completed with you in the picture, particularly any touchdown, is entirely your fault and often results in an immediate benching (see Reed Doughty, Adam Archuleta, etc.) This despite the fact that black safeties are beaten routinely for big plays and touchdowns without any repercussions (or jock-sniffing announcers pointing out who was beaten on the play). And, if you are that rarest of breed, a white RB, any fumble is going to relegate you to the scrap heap. Unfortunately, this is probably the last of Jacob Hester's two carries for the season. When was the last time any team drafted a player this high and played him so little, even though he wasn't injured? Well, any black player, I guess I should say.

On a related note, the Rams put Brian Leonard on Injured Reserve, ending yet another totally disappointing season for a white player that we had such high hopes for. Imho, if he plays any more in the NFL, it will have to be as a bulked up fullback. Edited by: bigunreal

What will happen if Hester proves successful despite the league's best efforts to minimize and render him ineffective?

Will other white backs be given a shot? Or will Hester be treated like an anomaly, admired in a patronizing sort of way but pitied just the same?

"He's fast, for a white boy."

Or maybe he's just fast, period.

I'd hate for him to be misused and waste his prime sitting on the bench, like so many white athletes from all sports end up doing.

If he was to succede, it's likely he'd fall into a Jason-Sehorn type scenario. He would kind of be a funny anomaly and people would think he's a little farcical.
