Looking at the NFL stat leaders on ESPN in the 6 categories they selectively display, it was nice to see our athletes holding 5 of the 6 top spots, although Eric Weddle is tied for most interceptions, he got the picture anyway!

Passer rating, Aaron Rogers 129.1
Receiving Yards, Wes Welker 960
Tackles, Pat Angerer 98
Sacks, Jared Allen 12.5
Interceptions, Eric Weddle 5

Thank you for posting this ES. Also, Kaptain mentioned this in the weekly thread as well.

I've said this before but I don't understand how anyone could think that this NFL season is a disappointment from the caste perspective. I understand that the Hillis situation is frustrating, Woodhead is underused and Gerhart / Leonard / Hester are totally getting screwed but look at all the positives. White quarterbacks are dominating and black quarterbacks are taking steps back. Tebow is winning while Newton is losing. Whites are dominating on defense as well.

Once again, I would trade another Hillis 1,000 yard season for either Jared Allen breaking the sacks record or Wes Welker breaking the receiving yard or receptions record. I think one of these 3 records may be broken.

I'd just add that White defensive players continue to shine. Houston went from worst to first in defense in one season in large part by drafting Brooks Reed and J.J. Watt early and combining them with a healthy Connor Barwin and Brian Cushing, who is just entering his peak years. We don't hear a peep now from the army of naysayers who predicted Cushing would do a Shawn Merriman after his dubious suspension for using a banned substance.

The Rams have several very talented White players on an up and coming defense, including Chris Long who is now coming into his own, and of course James Laurinaitis. If the Rams offense wasn't so abysmal their defense would be one of the top-ranked ones.

White defensive players are really making a name for themselves in recent years in sharp contrast to the ongoing epidemic of black flops at every position on offense and defense and this season is no exception.

Good points, Freethinker. I sure hope you are right about one of those records falling. I'd especially like to see the sack record be broken so we wouldn't hear as much about the gapped tooth f@ggotron.

I think Allen has a much better chance of breaking the sack record than Welker for reception yards. Allen is unstoppable and it will be much easier for him than Wes. Welker is drawing double and even triple teams at times so he will have difficulty. After a couple of average games he exploded again yesterday to keep pace.

The previous two games were Welker's lowest outputs of the year, but I knew he would bounced back like this, and I think we will even see another 180 yard plus game somewhere on the home stretch of the season.

As it stands now, at 120 yards per game, Welker is on pace for 1920 yards. To tie Jerry Rice's 1848 Welker needs to average 111 yards per game for the remaining half of the season.

Wk 10 @NYJ 78 yards
Wk 11 vs KC 152 yards
Wk 12 @ PHI 100 yards
Wk 13 vs IND 184 yards
Wk 14 @ WSH 90 yards
Wk 15 @ DEN 85 yards
Wk 16 vs MIA 96 yards
Wk 17 vs BUF 132 yards

This would equal the new receiving record of 1877 yards, or 115 yards per game from here on out.

Rice had a few slow games when he broke the record, 43 yards one week, 21 yards the next, he had a string of good games and then a 32 yard performance before feasting on some poor pass defenses back to back.

Woodhead will have to get more involved in the game, some of Welker's biggest plays yesterday were when he was running a route out of the backfield. The running game has to get more creative instead of man blocking right up the gut. It doesn't matter if Branch disappears and Ochocinco is not affective as long as Gronkowski keeps getting open and they use Woodhead more. It would help them win some more games if another receiver decided to show up.

Welker would have to average a little over 112 yards a week to break it, right now he is averaging 120

I would have never thought that Welker would be better than ever after that devastating injury he suffered. He's only 30 so he has at least a few more good seasons in the tank.

I wonder how the Christmas-hating media would spin these facts, if they choose acknowledged them at all. Certainly, "White favortism" would rear its phony head in one way or another, eventually. It always does, any time Whites clearly do better than their Black counterparts.
