AP Offensive ROY - The Gremlin

AP Defensive ROY - Luke Kuechly

AP Defensive POY - JJ Watt

AP Offensive/MVP ROY - Adrian Peterson

AP Comeback POY - Peyton Manning

The DWF's are at it again. Andrew Luck had the most 4th quarter comebacks on a less talented team with virtually no running game and a shaky Offensive line and still got into the playoffs. The Gremlin and LaRussell had a stronger supporting cast. Strong running game and Offensive line. It is simply astounding.

Second, this wasn't Adrian Peterson first major knee injury. He played last season. Adrian Peterson is not the first afleet to play well after major knee injuries. Medical science can fix knees. Neck injuries are much harder to come back from. Peyton Manning was given a very small chance of playing again when he was cut by the Colts. He sat out a full year. With age catching up to him, a weak neck and not even playing at 90%, miraculously he ended the season with very impressive numbers. Not only should he be Comeback, but also Offensive Player/Mvp.

Anyway, congratulations to JJ Watt and Luke Kuechly, they had no clear competition. I am happy that they won and rightfully so.

The Vikings best games of the year were against the 49ers and the second game against the 49ers. Both of those games featured Peterson taking a backseat to "game manager" Ponder. He doesn't deserve to be MVP.

Secondly, I think it's completely retarded to not award the comeback player of the year award to the MVP if the MVP was also coming off an injury. Awards shouldn't be handed out as consolation prizes, if you're worthy of the MVP then by extension the comeback player of the year should be included.

Luck v. Griffin

yeah, it's kinda' overlooked how much Griffin benefitted from Alfred Morris' running game. I think Morris was quietly one of the best backs in the league this season.
The sports media was havin a bro'mance with Griffin this year, his award was a lock.. but over the long haul, I think Luck will have a better career and really hold it down for pocket passers(early speculation).

I agree w/the other comment, there would've been nothing wrong with one guy winning both comeback & MVP, who cares, if the player earned both.. Manning & AP both had killer seasons, lots of physical adversity, and ps-, Manning was let go by his team..

I didn't thiunk it was astounding at all. RGIII domintated Luck in almost every statistical category.

102 passer rating to 76
66% completion percentage to 54%
8.14 yards per attempt to 6.98
5 interceptions to 18
815 rushing yards to 255

Washingtion was ranked 4th in points and 5th in yards per game, while Indianapolis was 18th in points, and 10th in yards.

Also, you don't get really credit for putting out fires that you start. His interceptions and poor play, along with fresh first through third quarter defenses put him in those 4 quarter holes. Once the opposing defenses were tired, Indy came roaring back. The other guys were strong from beginning to end.

Also, Alfred Morris benefitted from RGIII as well. When you have a running quarterback, the MDM ("most dangerous man") doesn't know who to target. In a pick your poison offense, when RGIII would trick the defense into trailing him, Alfred Morris would get gaping holes to run through. Chris Johnson was an average back before and after Vince Young. With Young, he practically jogged to 2,000 yards for the same reason Alfred Morris ran for 1,600.

Most of Griffin's passing players were one read short passes for YAC. He was ****ing pedestrian in the last few weeks when he couldn't run at the first sign of trouble. He's had major operations on both knees now.

Luck v Griffin II

fair enough.. Morris & Griffin had a symbiotic relationship, & the Skin's O-Line helped by starting to look Hog-like again too..
Remember tho, Cousins helped the Skins earn a couple of those wins to get Washington playoff-bound (also benefitting from Morris & his front-line).

run a hypothetical, Griffin inherits a team as bad as the Colts, maybe his #s aren't as significant (?) I think Luck had a more uphill battle, played more games (right?) proving to be more durable/reliable.. which was a glaring rookie season weakness for Griffin.
I'm okay w/Griffin gettin' the award, he & Luck were both playoff-earning rookies.
I just think that a sports media, in love with (& rooting for) Black qbs may have created an obstable for Luck's chances. (speculation on my part)

lol at Griffin being the reason for the success of Alfred Morris. When did you start watching football? Shanahan has long been known for being able to get 1,000 yards out of anybody with his great zone blocking scheme, and it wasn't because of Elway. These are the following runningbacks under Brian Griese, who wasn't that great.

Olandis Gary 1159 yards 7 tds in 12 games 1999
2000 Mike Anderson 1487 yards 15 tds
There was Clinton Portis who had back to back 1500 yard seasons with an average of 5.5, yes he had talent, but failed to average more than 4.3 ypc in a season outside of the system, averaging 4.1 ypc after leaving. Even he had to adjust his running, because his first season with the Redskins he averaged 3.8 ypc. No Portis? oh just get another 1k out of Mike Anderson again.

but how could Griese just not be that good? I mean he had a season where his passer rating was 102.9? He just wasn't. Mostly a game manager with 2 above average seasons in his 11 years. Running or no running, you pretty have the same thing in RG3, a game manager.

Drew Brees was on air today about how running qbs simply won't last long in the NFL, scrambling is one thing, you can see an open space and run to it and slide, or get to the sideline, but the read option, you are exposing yourself like a runningback, and are treated like one, unless some rule changes. The qb is only protected throwing in the pocket because he is an akward position, a defenseless player, running the read option he is not. This is why I think Russel Wilson will have the most success out of all of the black quarterbacks, he runs the read option the least, and most of his runs are from scrambles, even then you are still are more prone to injury. The average career of a rb is 3.5 years. Is that who you want as the face of your franchise? He might go 6 years. Or he can look like a shell of his former self like Vick does right now.

That was what I was going to post in the rivals thread about the black quarterbacks in college rising up, college coaches don't have to worry about a qb lasting long term, they just have to last a few years.

As for Chris Johnson, he is a 5'11 190 pound scat back with blazing speed who was run 350+ times that season, Vince Young wasn't much of a running threat, with 55 attempts. He averaged 4.9 ypc the season before with Kerry Collins starting. Kerry Collins also started 6 games for his 2k season, and Chris Johnson had his 2nd best game yardage wise for his career with 197 yards, his best ypc wise with 12.31

Just like us, ppl picking these awards have emotional reasons/preferences for their selections.
My point, for our guest is.. Luck and Griffin both had great rookie seasons. Do u belive that sports writers rooting for a Black qb's success may have tipped things in Griffin's favor (?)
I admit that I have emotional reasons for rooting for White pocket passers, those guys were my heroes growin' up, and I want there to be high-profile White guys in the game for my kids to root for.
I believe its normal & healthy to draw esteem from members of your ethnic group succeeding in sports. I get when ppl surround a boxing ring & wave the flags of their tribes. I get brothas pullin' for Griffin.. what I dont get, are self-hating, brainwashed Whites who are rooting for the demise of Whites in pro sports.. it's strange. anyways.
