The comments made earlier about LSU against Duke were on the money. The whole game the announcers used the standard phrases about the LSU players. They were long, they had athleticism, yada, yada, yada. But then LSU plays Texas, an almost all black team and amazingly, all the comments from the announcers changed. LSU now had great rebounders and excellent defenders. It was suddenly their basketball skills that were doing the job. Except for a play late in the game when the Texas center, who is white had a pass stolen. The announcers quickly explained that it was athleticism that accounted for the steal. The truth was, that the center telegraphed his pass and any good defender would have stolen it.
Very, very exasperating!
The LSU vs Duke and the LSU vs Texas games were actually very similar. Duke scored 2 more points than Texas in regulation. The Duke game actually had a defining moment. If Reddick hits his wide open three Duke goes up by 8 points and probably wins. But he missed and the rebound was converted into a 3-pointer for LSU cutting Duke's lead to 2 points.
