NBA to implement dress code

"The NBA will implement a uniform dress code for players wearing street clothes this year. "We were encouraged by the teams and coaches to do it," David Stern said. "We're going to have a dress code regarding the way players are attired when they come to work. Players who are injured and sitting on the bench are going to be more attired like the coaches, the way the coaches dress -- basically a jacket over business-casual."

I like this move. It shows that at least they are making somewhat of an attempt to bring respectability back to the game by disallowing its representitives to dress like thugs. Also what do you think the over-under will be on the amount of time it will take for the figureheads at ESPN and other media outlets to brand NBA commissioner David Stern a "racist" over this?

Notice the smartly dressed black teammate in the background. It's clear that David Stern's new dress code is a racist policy, aimed at putting the league's out of control white minority in its place.

Its almost so ridiculous in its notion that people will see right through it, as the propaganda that it really is.

I cant believe ESPN would even ATTEMPT to put it off on the few white players as the ones who are in need to dress more professional. Its so downright pathetic that its comical. Besides, even though its not the best picture, Nash and Nowitzki still look 10 times more presentable than their black counterparts. This is probably the most laughable thing I've seen all week

of course this policy is aimed at black players that dress like rappers. some black players were already wearing business casual by choice and nobody cares what the white players are wearing.

``It's a crazy situation,'' Vick said. ``I don't know why people with power would make them dress the way that they want them to dress. Those guys are professionals, but at the same time we are all grown (men).''


When the NBA season kicks off next month, players will be required to wear business-casual attire when involved in team or league business. They can't wear visible chains, pendants or medallions over their clothes.


``I don't think anyone should tell you how to dress, but that is the code and that is what they want and that is what the players have to abide by,'' Vick said. ``I totally disagree with it, but the people make the rules.''

I am glad the jews are getting a taste of their own medicine!

</a>) so I think it would be good for another jew, David Stern, to get called racist as well.

Someone mentioned Avery Johnson and I would like to say that everytime I have seen him he has been nicely dressed in a very good suit and is a credit to his race. Another one I would mention would be Nick Van Exel who I have seen wearing some nice suits and also some pretty nice jewelry (not stupid negro 'bling')

Also note that so far I have not seen one Euro-import complain about this new policy!! These are the White guys that I like to support and who I watch the game for.

Anyhow is it really that bad to have people go back to how they dressed in the 1980s??? Is that really asking too much???

I was listening to the radio today and someone stated that the NFL is going to be just like the NBA. They also stated that the NBA lost somewhere between $300-$400 million two years ago, they didnt have the figures for last year. Is this true? can anybody confirm this?

I don't know about the figures, but I have been sick of the way some of the black NBA players have dressed/adorned themselves over the last 10 years or so. It's way past time the NBA did something like this.

Well television viewership of NBA games have been way down so such losses are probably within the realm of possibility. Remember that mega-corporations can always play with the books to hide the True reality of their financial situation. It is highly doubtful that the NBA would ever fold though (unless there is a major disaster) since they recieve massive tax-payer subsidies for many arenas and maintain what is essentially a monopoly on the Sport.

There have been many theories offered as to why viewership is down, the dress of the players (although there are still some players who do dress good, see my post above), the current streetball style which is Alien to what people grew up watching in the 1980s and even early 90s, also the fact that games are available on a dizzying array of channels... abc on saturday I think (and the anouncers suck! totally went cheap), TNT, and ESPN. People just don't have the time to keep track of all the channels it is on and this contrasts sharply in peoples minds to when they knew they could watch a guaranteed good double-header on 'The NBA on NBC' just a few years ago

i read that the NBA has an income of about 2 billion. not sure what the profit is on that.

fun fact: usually a business is worth 200% of it's yearly income. so according to forbes, there are about 100 billionaires who could comfortably afford the 4 billion price tag on the entire NBA.

edit: paul allen, who owns 1 team, could easily buy the entire league for about 20% of his net worth.Edited by: jody
