N.Valuev

Valuev should fight McBride as this would be the perfect first opponent in the US. Slow hittable and huge himself. The ko would be spectacular.......

why was vitali such a huge underdog?

'cuz he's white.

i suspect that played a major role in his underdog status.herbie hide was the WBO champ at the time and Vitali was a young gun that no one really seen or heard of.Everyone including their mother thought herbie hide was going to walk out of arena with his WBO belt.they were wrong.the fight was a complete blowout.Edited by: onewarrior5

I sure wish Vitali would come back. His biggest critics say he didn't fight long enough, and quit when he hurt his shoulder. That is b.s. but I wonder where he will be remembered 50 years from now.I would have loved to see him fight around 5 more fights.I wish him well though and I sure am glad his brother is kicking ass.

Some good photos of the action are on fightnews.com at

where there's also a quote from co-promoter Don King, "Nikolai Valuev is one of the most underestimated boxers in the world," Don King said. "He is throwing more and better combinations as well as a devastating uppercut. I believe this man has the ability to become undisputed world champion."

These are noteworthy words from the same man who claimed that Vitali Klitschko "couldn't fight". His greed may prove to be an instrumental factor in exposing white heavyweight talent in the USA.

King loves money and that's it. He will support whomever and whatever will make him the most money. My favourite moments of King are when black fighters lose to one of his non black fighters and all of King's crap about racial solidarity go out the window. I seriously feel he wishes he was Irish..........

He loves green that much.....

Update: Supposedly Valuev will be showcased by King on HBO and King wants Mcbride as the opponent. But HBO is pushing for a live opponent. The problem is King has no live contenders.......

Valuev/ McBride is underwhelming, to say the least. It seems like the only good HW match-ups are the ones that surprise the "better" fighter, like Lyakhovich (who wasn't even considered a top ten or fifteen HW) vs. Brewster (who was so good against Europeans.) The top dogs don't want to fight each other.

It could make Valuev look destructive which would push him into a PPV fight vs Wlad. As much as the average fan would think it's a cake walk for Wlad. Valuev has shown no beard problems or stamina issues while Wlad has been plagued with both problems......

If Klitschko or Liakovich could unify the belts by defeating such a giant in a widely-televised match, it would make their reputations as fighters and do alot for White athletes, as in, Dempsey vrs. Willard.

Right now of course, alot *******-worshipers are making alot of the fact that the Russian HWs tend to be so large. Of course, 185-195 used to be a realistic weight for a HW champion, and the size difference in any black-White HW matchup during boxing's "black period" was of no interest to them.

Yeah, they didn't seem to care much about size when Lennox Lewis was heavyweight champion, or when Riddick Bowe was fighting little Evander Holyfield for the unified title, did they?

Or when Billy Zumbrun beat the devil out of Riddick Bowe at 195,looking like a kid beside that giant tub of lard, got robbed in the deceschion, and I've never heard tell of the man fighting again...

Valuev injured his knee and will not fight this September. Believe it or not, his scheduled opponent was Monte "Who?" Barrett, another Don King fighter (of course.)

Nicolay valuev is underrated in my eyes.He will surprise alot of people in when its all said and done.

The funniest photos of Valuev fighting are the ones with Ruiz and the little black on top they almost look comical...
