Some rookies I'll be watching this year

#1 Alex Gordon - Future 3rd basemen for K.C. but Mark Teahan already holds the position. Gordon is well known for being the best hitting prospect in the minors. It is only a matter of time before he gets a shot.

#2 Billy Butler - Another K.C. prospect with a lot of talent. He might start the season in the minors but K.C. will have him up eventually. He's an amazing offensive talent. Fielding needs a little work, however.

#3 Philip Hughes - The Yankees best pitching prospect. Giambi compared him to Roger Clemens. We will see!

#4 Josh Fields - Chicago White Sox future 3rd Basemen but already 24. His only obstacle at this point is Joe Crede.

Some younger players I think will breakout this year

#1 Stephen Drew - He's a 24 yr old SS for the Arizona Diamondbacks and is the younger brother of J.D. Drew. I think a lot of people would agree that this kids is going to be a future All-Star for years to come.

#2 Ryan Zimmerman - Already a star but watch for him to put up even bigger numbers this year.

#3 Jeremy Hermida - Compared to the likes of Andy Van Slyke and Paul O'Neill. Let's hope so!

#4 Jeff Francoeur - Needs no introduction around here. His power numbers should improve this season.

Comeback players

#1 Scott Podsednik - Had surgery over the winter and is enjoying a fine spring. The addition to Erstad has really pushed him. This is the best I've seen him look since coming to Chicago.

#2 Zack Greinke - Suffered from anxiety problems last season and left the Royals camp. If he can overcome this obstacle he'll be a 15 game winner for years to come.

Milestones

Jim Thome - He will probably reach the 500 home run plateau.

Tom Glavine - Very close to 300 wins.

Craig Biggio - Very close to 3,000 hits.

Misc.

Roger Clemens comeback? lol

Aaron Rowand - Gotta love the guy. Broke his nose last year trying to make a catch.

David Wright - I didn't think this guy was white because he was on the Mets.

Teams I'll be watching

Royals
Twins
White Sox
Detroit
Indians

The A.L. Cental is best division in baseball.

Final comments

Feel free to add to this list. I don't have time to name every white prospect or future all-star. These are just a few players I'll be watching this season.

I'm looking for Richie Sexson to go from a mediocre year of "only" 30-odd homers and 107 RBIs to another 45 homer 130 RBI year.

Looking for Sean Casey to raise his already good numbers. He and the other White Tigers will ensure another pennant for their team.

Any new additions to the Tigers line-up? The White Sox haven't done much to make their team any whiter. Toby Hall would have been their backup catcher but he is out for the season. He was replaced by Molina. No, not the good Molina. The only other notable addition was Darin Erstad. He is taking the place of Brian Anderson in center. The White Sox pitching staff is all white except for 2 starting pitchers. That could change during the season, however.

I think it was yesterday or the day before that I was watching the Rockies. I forgot all about Todd Helton. He was a shoe in for the Hall of Fame a few years ago. What happened to him?

Anyone know why Adam Miller was reassigned for the Indians? I don't think he gave up a single run this year in spring-training. The Indians have something with that kid.

How about Colby Rasmus? How did he fair in his first spring-training? Future replacement for Jim Edmonds.

Is Zimmerman the best player in MLB---I think that will become evident soon enough.

Ryan Church could do some real damage if given the chance, but he plays in Washington so there you go.

David Wright can have a big year any time, but Randolph wants to put him in the two hole. Smart move take away Reyes speed, and leave the big runs to injury prone Alou, and streaky delgado. Beltran is the most consistent of the middle of the order, but swing the bat in a big spot this time Carlos.

Some other guys that should we watched this year:
Jered Weaver(Nice rookie year, should be an ace for the Angels)
Gil Meche(big contract, royals have big dreams for him. See if he can help in anyway)
Eric Gagne(canadidate for comeback player of the year)
Josh Hamilton(former dope addict looks to start in Cincinnati. Top prospect out of college, see if he can turn it around)

1st overall pick in '99, almost destroyed his life. I'm definitely rooting for this guy. And it doesn't hurt that he's on the Reds, my childhood team.

Love Rowand's hustle and tenacity, but he offers little offensively and thus will only be known for running into the fence face first rather than being considered a great player...

Rowand may not be an All-Star but he is everything you want in a teammate. He will probably be remembered more in Chicago because he was on the World Series team. He is often rumored in trades here. Every couple of months it seems there is another Rowand rumor. I like Thome and everything but hated to see Rowand go.

In 2002 Rowand almost didn't get the chance to play because he was injured in a motorcycle accident. He battled back and earned a starting job. Ever since then he was very popular in Chicago.

I think the Sox were using him as a lead off hitter but moved him when Podsednik came over. I remember he covered a lot of ground in center and helped Podsednik out a lot. When Rowand left Podsednik did a poor job in left. Its the little things he did to help his team win.

He also helped a somewhat timid Joe Crede gain confidence and enjoy baseball. He was a real class act. The kind of player I want my kids looking up to - not players like Manny Ramirez.

Keep an eye on Cleveland youngster SP Jeremy Sowers. He's an Ohio boy and grew up rooting fo rthe Tribe so its' great to see him playing for his childhood team. Jeremy Sowers is like a Greg Maddux in that he doesn't throw in the 90s but has pin point control and a great curve ball.

Tough break for Cleveland getting snowed out. They looked great against the White Sox. Bullpen looks a little shaky though.

Francoeur saved my fantasy team with 5 RBIs tonight. Alex Gordon had 2 RBIs and Z. Greinke pitched a helluva game for Kansas City.
