Triad, Prep beat Pearl a 4A MHSAA team last night 50-0! Here are some pics. As you can see, Prep has but 3 blacks on the team (all sophomores) and only one does much, number 11, a WR. I am hoping that the best MPSA RB, Bryant Salmon, will get some good scholarship offers if not as an RB, as a DB.

Well, the MPSA doesn't exist anymore. The PC powers that be within that organization didn't want to appear discriminatory, so they got rid of the "Private" in the name Mississippi Private School Association. Now it's called the Mississippi Association if Independent Schools. Anyway, the MAIS schools are 6-5 against MHSAA public schools so far in 2009. One more public (black) vs. private (white) game is coming up. Next week, Pearl plays at Jackson Prep and Copiah Academy plays at Pisgah High. Hopefully after next week, the MAIS schools will be 8-5 in these mostly Caste matchups. The last such game of 2009 will be October 9 when Forest plays at Jackson Prep. It is doing the white folks in Mississippi a world of good to see their kids beating these black teams that are supposedly superior to their own. I think it will change a lot of attitudes and open some eyes to the reality of the situation. Of course, Memphis University School (amost all white) beating South Panola (almost all black) last night helped out too! That game was on ESPN-U, and I know a lot of people around the state were watching that one. I'm really proud of all these white private school players who are making some awesome things happen on a statewide level.
By the way, Jackson Prep started the trend of playing against MHSAA schools back in 2001, when they lost to George County 27-14. There weren't any more MHSAA vs. MAIS games until 2007, when Prep beat Newton County, as mentioned in earlier posts.
