Yes a fairly busy weekend but it's largely club fight type cards with the Miami card being a Misfits show with a former UFC fighter in the main event against I'm guessing a poor man's Jake Paul type.

Fisher can't lose or what is he?

His opponent is a set up but as we saw with Joshua this means nothing if you have a vulnerable chin and get tagged. Stanionis is probably easing back into boxing with I'm guessing a club fight level opponent. This bout will be hard to find live with even a pirate stream...

There was a lot of drama outside of the ring with Indo-Brit Sheeraz dumping his 168 pound strap because his purse against drug cheat Alimkhanuly was too small for the risk against the tough Kazak national. So this duck wasn't on any principle but he needed to get paid for the risk.

When Sheeraz fought his two German club fight level opponents he was paid in the low millions while against a severe jump in class opponent he was only eligible to make less than half that. This was the problem boxing insiders speculated would happen once Saudi money evaporated from the boxing land scape.

One positive from the situation is Jacob Bank will fight for the vacant WBO strap against Alimkhanuly if both sides can agree on purses.

PS reading the details of the article on Fury vs Joshua and this will be for the WBA Super World Heavyweight title. I expect Gassiev and his lawyers will try and reverse this decision as he has now been demoted to regular world champion.

These organizations based in Latin America that are out of the reach of the US Justice Department clearly make up the rules as they go along. How does an upgraded champion get downgraded because two bigger names want a title involved in their bout.

If there was any logic to the WBA Fury vs Joshua would be for the regular title and Gassiev would be upgraded to a Super Champion....

Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua could be called off due to issues, according to sources, and a replacement fight between Terence Crawford and Ryan Garcia is being considered.



I am not sure how true this is because no news sites have reported about this, but I would not be surprised given this is one of those fights that does not want to get made. Though I hope this is just a dumb rumor.
 




Pullen was impressive on his pro debut on the Zuffa card. MacMillan knocked his opponent down 3 times and won by second round KO.

I saw the writer who gave the rumor and it has legs if Coppinger is tweeting it as he is a boxing insider who gets fed insider news similar to Schefter for the NFL.

I saw the Fisher fight and I would give him the lowest passing grade without failing as his Belgian Mulatto opponent was brought in to be squashed spectacularly and Fisher only could limp across the line with a slightly harsh majority decision as I tend to agree more with the wide points win.

Fisher was stiff legged late and while not getting touched much but he still had the look of a man who just finished the Boston Marathon. He needs to work more on his cardio and stick to the shallow end level of opponents while he works on conditioning.

I know he sells tickets for club fight level shows but for the long term growth of his career he should do dark bout cards at club fight venues like the Royal Albert hall until he is ready for a step up fight.

PS I saw the Hot Rod fight and he looked very sharp and is ready for another eliminator as he is battling father time at 35 years old.

Johnny Fisher did well in his fight. Displayed fast slipping, ducking, rolling head movement but didn't punch enough off the weaves. Everytime he connected off the slips and weaves whether to the head of body he hurt his African opponent. Many big heavies Makhmudov, Joshua, Dubois, Joyce don't have the upper body flow to move their heads. If Fisher explodes more hooks off the weaves it could be devastating for opponents.
 
Fisher comes across as a nice, intelligent man, easy to root for.

But to be honest, Fisher was not impressive yesterday. He's slow-footed and lacks stamina, he might be better if he trimmed off 10 pounds of baby fat. I doubt he'll ever beat a decent heavyweight contender. His opponent was even worse, and the draw card was unfair to Fisher. It should have been no closer than 77-73, with Fisher in complete control during the first four rounds. There are rumors that Fisher will fight Dillian Whyte next.

The Kalajdzic-Richards fight was enjoyable, and should have been the main event.
