So it looks like Mikkel Kessler will be fighting Anthony Mundine again, for the WBA secondary title (Joe Calzaghe has the real title which he took from Mikkel).

He was declared the mandatory contender by the WBA. If Calzaghe gives up the real title, and Kessler defeats Mundine, Mikkel will once again be the WBA champion.

Ought to be an interesting fight. But is Miranda moving up to Super Middle Weight or is Kessler boxing as a middle weight. Might give Kelly Pavlik some measure of how he would fare if and when he moves up a class.Edited by: Tired old White

Miranda has moved up to Super Middleweight.

This fight is now confirmed for May 24 and will be broadcast by Showtime.

It should be a dandy - I can hardly wait!

This will be an easy win for Kessler. Kessler is very talented. When he lost it was to Calzaghe and he is just unbelievable. I am so pissed we lost 2 belts last weekend.

I don't expect anything from Kessler other than a knockout. And I won't be satisfied will a decision win either. We know Kessler is by far the better boxer, now he has to take Miranda out. If he doesn't, his stock will diminish.

It looks like this fight is off. I originally didn't comment on this fight because I thought this fight didn't make any sense. For a comeback fight this fight is too tough for Kessler. To me the only way this fight makes sense is if it were a title eliminator. With Calzaghe moving up quite a few belts will be vacant soon and Kessler will be a mandatory for either his old WBA belt or WBC. Down the line with either fighter being a champion then this fight would make sense to me.

Now the rumor is that Kessler wants to move to Light-Heavyweight to fight Hugo Garay for the belt that Danny Green recently vacated. We will see.

There are certainly bigger names for Kessler at 175 than 168, but those guys are getting old fast (Calzaghe, Hopkins, Woods, Tarver, Jones, Johnson, Trinidad.) Of course, there's one exception: Chad Dawson. A future match-up between those two would be very, very exciting. Wouldn't it be cool if Kessler becomes the king at 175 and Bute at 168....

Now we know why Kessler "ducked" Miranda, as per Fightnews..The WBA announced Tuesday that it has designated former WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler as the "official challenger" for its super middleweight title, an honor now held by Anthony "The Man" Mundine. Kessler won the WBA crown by stopping Manny Siaca Jr., and, in his first title defense, went Down Under to unanimously outpoint Mundine in Sydney. "Mundine is a very tough customer," Kessler said. "He comes to fight and I respect that. I look forward to another rugged match against him now. I think it's fair to say he's a fellow who keeps improving which is understandable since he switched to boxing after being a big star in Australian Rules football. He's not the type to run away from a challenge." Kessler, who turned 29 on March 1, has not fought since his November 4 loss against Joe Calzaghe.

It looks like Mundine is going to try to move forward with a totally pointless fight against Soliman. Who knows, Mundine may be a more dangerous fight for Kessler than Miranda anyway. Obviously we all know about Miranda's power, but Mundine is much slicker. And Kessler-Miranda was going to be on Showtime. First Froch-Inkin, now this! Dang!

Kessler-Miranda is an exciting, dangerous, but winnable fight. Oh well. Hopefully we'll see Abraham-Miranda II, at the very least.Edited by: JD074

Kessler vs. Sartisan is coming up on Sat June 21, for the WBA super middleweight title vacated by Mundine.

Maybe Mikkel will defend an American opponent in the fall. I imagine Kessler vs. Taylor will happen eventually, and that would be a good matchup.

Mikkel Kessler wins by KO in round 12 over his previously undefeated opponent Sartison, and regains the WBA regular super middleweight title.

Bring on Jermaine Taylor!

God to see Mikkel get a belt back. He is a top fighter and should make some noise. A loss to Calzaghe (#1 P4P) is no shame.

On boxrec it was reported that Sartison was taken out via stretcher, with twitching legs. He was however conscious. I hope he is okay, as he is a very good fighter, albeit not in Kessler's league. IMO there is no one at SM who can touch Kessler right now (and SM is loaded with good fighters).

Mikkel Kessler will be defending his WBA super middleweight title this Saturday Oct 25 against Danilo Haussler.

I'm hoping to see him in some bigger fights next year, perhaps with one of the other titleholders.
