Ricky Hattons little brother is fighting for the IBO Welterweight belt today against African boxer Lovemore Ndou. Ndou is the favorite and has little repect for Hatton. He said...

"If you are running a stable of racehorses and you keep a donkey and you keep feeding it carrots, eventually that donkey thinks it is a racehorse. It's only when you put it on a racetrack that it gets exposed."Â￾

A rather eloquent put down I must admit. A bit better than the "he smells, "he is too hairy" kind of stuff we got from David Haye.
Am looking forward to he fight.

Ricky looks huge by the way. No way will he ever fight again.

Yeah, Ndou was pretty funny with his reference to Matthew. If he came up with that by himself he has a future in boxing writer or color commentary.

However, I wonder if Ndou thought he was "Mr Ed" when Malaganni outclassed and slapped him around for the lightweight title a couple of years ago?

Matt has a chance to beat a tough second teir fight and put himself into a position of fighting for a title with a respectable purse.

Ricky, his life my turn out to be tragady with his over eating and drinking, what shame. I suspect he is walking around between 190/195 lbs!

Hopefully he can learn from his brothers mistakes and stay in shape! Does anyone have a link?

The fight was a draw.

115-114 114-115 114-114

From the RBR I was reading most thought Hatton deserved the victory.

The British press (not impartial I suppose) and the BBC are saying Hatton was unlucky.

Hatton Offered a Rematch With N'Dou But in Australia

Welterweight Matthew Hatton has been offered a rematch with IBO champion Lovemore Ndou. They fought to a draw in Hatton's backyard of Stoke. Ndou will fight him again but only if the fight takes place in Australia. Hatton is convinced that he won the fight.

"Everyone knew I'd won the fight," Hatton told Manchester Evening News. "The cruellest thing they could do was call it a draw. I would sooner have lost by three or four rounds and say I'd lost to the better man on the night, but I know I won the fight."

Ndou felt it was a tough fight but he doesn't think Hatton did enough to win and he won't return to England for a rematch.

"It was a tough fight, tougher than I expected," Ndou said. "But I felt I was always in control. You have got to take a title from the champion."

Wow - I can recall when Matthew Hatton was a decent regional fighter. Now he has beaten two former champs (he really beat Ndou). Nuzhenko is a tougher guy however so his streak may end soon.

Hatton-Nuzhnenko seems to be an even matchup to me - Nuzhnenko may be slightly better skilled, but Hatton's home advantage evens it out. Both are decent fighters, but neither is quite world-class. It should be a close, competitive fight.
