Matt Jones retired in 2010, I highly doubt he is coming back. He realizes all the bs that White players have to go through. He had an offer to tryout for the Redskins and he declined and thats when he retired. He probably realized that he would have to bust his ass do a bunch of crap and be at the bottom of the totem pole only to be cut later on, which is what happened with the Bengals. I think he has a good job now that pays well.

It would be great to see him play and actually use his ability to the fullest, which is stretching the field, he never got to do that with David Garrard when they had him running 5 and 10 yard possession routes. He looked the best when Byron Leftwich was the qb, and they ran him deep more, but still didn't get to go deep often. Randy Moss looked very average on short routes and even worse on ones where he had to go across the middle, and he had a great career.

I remember in preseason Chris Collinsworth babbling on and on after Jones made two catches that they threw to him, possession route, I remember one was a short out route, and he kept talking about how the bengals are trying to shorten the length of his stride and that he couldn't be a good receiver because his stride was so long and his conclusion was "i just don't think they can do it and he isn't going to make it"

Shorten the stride? thats what made him a deep threat. Thats why most slot receivers are running backs that have to make quick cuts are short, usually under 6 foot, there are some exceptions for 6'1.

Like most White athletic freaks, he will not be playing football. I am not sure if he enjoyed playing football, maybe in college but definetly not in the nfl with all the bs He could be doing exactly what Griffin is doing. All the option plays with dink and dunk passes. (Jones had some shoulder problems which limited him from passing too much), so I am sure he could do the typical dink and dunk, and make one deep pass every few games like Griffin.

Matt Jones was a setup. They knew he did drugs in college. They do research on players they are picking. Many athletes are able to get away getting stopped especially where they're from.

they also knew he wasn't a " football junkie gym rat" so he wouldn't keep trying to stick once they wanted to get him out and he did exactly that by declining a tryout with the skins. The opposite of this would be Mike Hass who got screwed over every time and still came back.

They want fans to think that the reason Whites aren't in the league is because they aren't athletic enough so once Jones came out w his freakish athleticism ( Calvin Johnson is prolly the only other player with close size/ speed combo).

Convince you that he can't play that fast ( every time a White runs a fast 40 "experts" immediately say they don't play to their timed speed. Also they had him do majority 5 and ten yard routes so he couldn't really prove it wrong most games.

if it wasn't drugs they would've found another way to get rid of him. He was on pace for 1k his last year so it's not like his production went south

i mean even if he wasn't fast he is so tall you can just throw jump balls to him. I mean its basically what Jimmy Graham does half the time, even guys like Brandon Marshall do that and to a lesser extent Andre and Calvin Johnson so sometimes it don't matter how well they are covered, just throw it high enough.

so they can say they gave an athletic white a chance with a first round pick and "he didn't pan out" never mind that he didn't play the position you drafted him for in college and the fact that he was grasping the position more every year so he actually did pan out. Don, you are correct as almost always. Yet, it is the White man, who will sabotage us into oblivion. Its US who are serving us up on silver platter of ruin for personal gain. I see there are numerous posters blaming "everything" on tribe over on the "happy hour" threads. I feel we should think of ways to "encourage effective behavior/protest here at home" to start to turn things around. frustrating, I am just venting.

I remember those "Blacksonville" teams well. As we have documented on this forum before, the phenomenon of white players being drafted by absolutely the worst possible team is nothing new. Unless we are talking about a bonafide franchise QB like Andrew Luck, left tackle like Joe Thomas or LB like Luke Kuechly, many talented white players always seem to end up at teams which already have established starters on a given position, which means they either face many years of serving racial apprenticeships or getting lost in the depth charts during their prime playing years.

I have seen that before and began to watch it again. I made it to a minute and a half and became so ticked I couldn't continue. If these walking sacks of scum controlling the League had a Black that talented, even with murder charges, rape charges, shoplifting charges, fornicating, lowlife trash reputation coming out of college he'd be considered a franchise QB and NEVER would it be dreamt to ask him to consider changing positions. he was given a chance to play but not really a second chance with the league. The Bengals brought him in but not a serious look, more like a camp body, they already had their minds made up like many teams do which is frustrating because we see them in preseason thinking they have a real shot. If they did then guys like Mike Hass would be playing based on their performances. The Redskins offered him a tryout I think it was the following year, but he declined. I don't blame him if his heart is not in football, why go to camp just to get cut again? Guys like Mike Hass went through like half a decade of being pushed on practice squads and what not.


Jones was given a chance to play a position he never played before. First round picks that are black are given many years to prove themselves. People dont write them off as a bust after the first few years because they are like "well it takes about 3 years to get the hang of transitioning from college to NFL" and thats for affletes that played wide receiver in college.

They LOVE when a first round White doesn't automatically light the league on fire and love the fact that he made a mistake. The only recent blacks that got removed from playing was Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. That was over popular opinion on things like domestic abuse and child discipline. Die hard dwfs don't really care about those things, they knew those things were already going on.

So when this happens to a former number 1 pick they can be like, "see what happens when we give whitey a chance? never again"

and his performance wasn't bad, he showed lots of promise as a rookie wr that never played the position before. Did a little better the second year. I guess started losing heart his 3rd year, most guys go through a sophomore slump, he went through a junior slump. Got busted for the coke, even douchebag Collinsworth was saying he didnt think this was a bad thing to happen because he looked like he was starting to get his stuff together. Jones was on pace for 1,000 yards had he not had to miss those 4 games due to suspension.

And they never used him to his potential. He had amazing deep speed, so you think you would use him on go routes, post routes etc. Nope, used on 5 and 10 yard possession routes and then his black quarterbacks couldn't even use his height to advantage, throw it to where only he can get it, the guy is 6'6, dbs are like 5'7 to 6'0. He got blamed for not using his size. Leftwich was a little better at qb with deep routes, in fact his decline came with Garrard coming in at qb, but still, leftwich wasn't that great either, just a little step up.

edit: i forgot he did get a 2nd chance, but he drank a beer....Even the most strict drug court programs don't give you that harsh of a penalty for a mess up like that, you might get some extra community service, a 3rd time might be more serious, like a weekend in jail.
