Hall of Famer
French police have arrested a man suspected of planning an attack on "one or two churches", the country's interior minister has said.
The man, 24, an Algerian national, was known to security services as having expressed a wish to travel to Syria, Bernard Cazeneuve said.
He is also suspected of the murder of a woman found dead near Paris.
France stepped up security in the wake of the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo offices and a Jewish supermarket.
The man, a computer science student who had lived in France for several years, was detained on Sunday after he apparently shot himself by accident and called for an ambulance.
Police followed a trail of blood leading to his vehicle, where they found notes "unambiguously demonstrating" he planned an imminent attack, according to Mr Cazeneuve.
"Several war weapons, hand guns, ammunition, bullet-proof vests, and computer and telephone hardware" were discovered at his car and home, Mr Cazeneuve added.
The authorities carried out security checks on the suspect twice over the past couple of years but did not uncover anything to justify further investigation.
