"People around Washington are beginning to mutter the name of second-year quarterback Jason Campbell, at right, hoping the youngster can help right the slowly sinking ship at FedEx Field. Even Post columnist Michael Wilbon said yesterday that if Mark Brunell struggles on Sunday, it might be time."

Mark Brunell is slowing down , I realize that . But the way he was treated with Jax when they brought in Garrard and then later Leftwich, makes me pull even harder for him. But it won't be long now and Campbell will take over. They showed Campbells picture during the game and mentioned that his time is not far away. Yeah, of course, it never is.

Brunnell may be hitting the end of the road. He got screwed in Jacksonville but he got the benefit of the doubt last year over Patrick Ramsey. He hasn't performed well in preseason or through game two.

Part of the team's problems may be "offensive genius" Saunders reported 700+ page playbook. That's a little bit extreme in IMO, it's hard to play football when you're confused.

Even?? LOL! What does that mean? "Even" implies that the problem is so shockingly bad that "even" Michael Wilbon endorses replacing Brunell with Campbell. As if a black sportswriter needs a reason.

Eh, Wilbon is pretty fair to white players in his columns. He even asked the question early this year about why no American white basketball all stars. I never watch the ESPN show because I can't stand Tony Kornholer, whose about to ruin MNF for me.


As far as Brunell goes, there's simply NO blocking from the line or the running backs. The left side is suspect anyway, but Rabach, Jansen, and Randy Thomas are getting beaten too. Clinton Portis, like him or not, is also an outstanding blocker in the backfield for Brunell. Its like watching the Spurrier days: people are just going to blitz the 'Skins until we show we can block them.

In my Opinion i believe Brunell is nearly finished hes been a very Good NFL QB and has had a good career...


What really turned me against the Washington regime is their treatment of Patrick Ramsey

.They had Brunell's replacement right there before them...yet they chose to get rid of him for a player who had a decent Senior Season(nothing more)on a team that was carried by its running game(Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown)

Ramsey was thrown to the wolves by Spurrier. I don't think he'll ever recover from those two seasons having the sh*t knocked out of him.

Campbell, and I know this is heresy here, looks ok, but not nearly far enough along in his development to start. He moves about as well as Brunell within the pocket, and unlike the average afflete, he actually looks for his receivers before he scrambles.

Its too bad, really, that Brunell, Collins and Campbell can't be combined, because between all three, there's a complete QB.

Well i said Brunell was finished earlier in this thread,il hold up my hand and say i was dead wrong...


Brunell finished 18 from 30 for 329 yards 3TD's including the winning score in overtime and 1Int

Free-agent quarterback Mark Brunell has reached an agreement in principle to join the Saints this season, league sources said Thursday evening.


The deal will be for two years, but Brunell has not yet signed the paperwork, a league source said.


Brunell, 37, visited with the Saints on Monday night and Tuesday. He'll likely replace veteran backup Jamie Martin on the roster as Drew Brees' understudy.

The Saints also unsuccessfully recruited Trent Green, who signed with the St. Louis Rams, instead. Brunell had been released by the Washington Redskins last week.


He lost his backup position last season to Todd Collins.


Brunell began his career in Green Bay as a backup to Brett Favre. He is a former Pro Bowl quarterback who has thrown for 31,826 yards, 182 touchdowns and 106 interceptions in his 14-year career
