I really whiffed by missing Braylon Mullins in my preview. I haven't been keeping tabs on the internet "draft boards" - mostly a year of Test Tube Freaks, as usual - but it would be great if Mullins came back to school for another season or two and made a run at National Player of the Year.
Braylon Mullins absolutely should return to school. Danny Hurley just needs
Liam McNeely to contact him and remind him of the perils of leaving college too early. Liam, I believe, embarrassed himself when he profusely wept draft night, after he fell to 29th overall. Obviously, he believed early online projections from DWF sites that he'd be a
top 10 or top 15 pick. His rookie season in Charlotte has been a train-wreck. Basically been relegated to the D-League the entire season, with a few minutes of garbage time back in October.
Liam's issue was his lack of bulk and upper body strength. That's, also, what stands out to me about Mullins; Braylon's very thin. Absolutely needs time to mature and develop. But I think he'll get there and be a NBA star eventually. As far as McNeely is concerned, bugs me quite a bit that he was
bamboozled into entering the draft way too early. Would've loved to see him starring for Connecticut as a sophomore. Liam, Karaban and Mullins would've been quite a starting trio. Coming back another season or two would've absolutely got Liam into the top 10, perhaps top 5?
White Duke HC Jon Scheyer elected to leave in the lesser Boozer brother at the expense of senior center Caleb Foster (both black, obviously). Scheyer was presumably anticipating a quick foul and chose the 18 yr old over the 23 yr old because he was better at free throws..... He seems to blame everything on coaching rather than execution, which is necessary to avoid racism accusations. Did Scheyer fail to coach his (black) players, or did his (black) players fail to perform?
Scheyer is actually jewish. In high school he was dubbed the "jewish Jordan".
Back in 2010, rumor had it that
Coach K. was brought in by the powers-that-be at Duke and told his
National Championship team was too White**. Or simply did not reflect the proper "diversity" of the University and he had to
change his recruiting. That "rumor" had to be true, as since then Duke has pretty much only recruited blacks of various hues, mostly mulattoes, per my thinking. After 2010, only the occasional 5 star Luke Kennard or Grayson Allen type was allowed to start for Duke, during the end of coach K's run (over 10 years).
Only reason Duke/Scheyer recruited and started two Whites in 2025 (Kon K. and Cooper Flagg) is because they are
truly generational talents. In retrospect, Kon and Cooper should have joined their high school teammate/buddy Liam at Connecticut, Cooper's #2 choice. They would've easily won a title on a team potentially starting 4/5 Whites.
Back to Scheyer being jewish, I don't think Duke's "hierarchy" needs to worry about the team
being "too White", with lonsman
Scheyer at the helm. Meanwhile, I guess Duke's DWF's can enjoy the endless parade of mulattoes their HC will bring to Durham. Even creepy-looking "Test-Tube" mulattoes, as Phall described
**Google AI:
The 2010 Duke basketball team, which won the National Championship, was frequently associated with high-profile white players, notably
Jon Scheyer and Kyle Singler, contributing to long-standing perceptions of the program's demographic identity. While not exclusively white, this team's core, along with players like Ryan Kelly and Mason Plumlee, fit a narrative of "skilled" or "gritty" players contrasted against a predominantly Black sport.
Duke basketball faced narratives regarding the racial makeup of their team, often driven by stereotypes surrounding "gritty" white players, such as Kyle Singler and Mason Plumlee, juxtaposed against a predominantly Black sport. Former NBA player Jalen Rose infamously perpetuated stereotypes about Duke's recruitment during that era, though others argued the focus on "white villains" ignored the team's actual diversity.
Stereotype Context: The 2011 team, which followed the 2010 national championship team (which featured Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler, and Mason/Miles Plumlee), was often cited in discussions regarding "white villains" in college basketball.
