If I'm not mistaken, next Saturday night there will be FOUR white fighters in three events on HBO:



Paul Briggs vs Tomasz Adamek (both white) for WBC Lt. Heavyweight



Andrew Golota vs colored (no title)



Thomas Daamgard vs Hispanic for WBA welterweight title.



Either way it goes in the Briggs v Adamek fight, we'll have TWO of the
lt. heavyweight belts in the hands of white fighters (Woods won last
night.)



If Golota wins, he may get a shot at one of the heavyweight title
holders again, although I'd rather it be anyone but Klitshcko, for now.
And that even though Ruiz' fights are among the most boring ever
televised in the history of boxing.



Its going to feel odd watching professional boxing with only one Negro on the fight card.

Let's not confuse people here,White Shogun.The Briggs vs Adamek and Golota vs Brewster fights are scheduled for May 21st in Chicago.The Damgaard vs Rivera is set for April 2nd.Speaking of Thomas Damgaard,all of his fights have taken place in his home country of Denmark.He has some quality wins on his resume but he is such an unknown that I'm thinking he could be boxing's best kept secret or he could be a dud.We shall see.I noticed you didn't mention that the Golota fight was in fact for a title.The WBO.I hope you're not one of these fight fans who does not recognise the WBO as legitimate.They have come a long way as an organization and they are getting a lot more respect in the U.S.then they ever have before,even though they were always well respected in Europe.I'm not big on all the boxing organizations myself,I'd like to see one champion in every division,but the WBO has had plenty of quality champs and plenty of quality fights,they deserve some respect.

I found the scheduling information I posted here in ESPN's boxing
section, under "Schedule." I looked around the web a bit more and found
some other dates mentioned as well. It looks like the fight has been
scheduled for different dates several times, hence my (and ESPN's)
confusion. Nor did ESPN indicate that the Golota v Brewster fight
was for the WBO title. I had originally thought that it was but did not
state so in this post because of my (mistaken) source of information.



From now on, I'll double check my information with other sports organizations before I quote from ESPN.



As for the WBO, IMO the alphabet soup of boxing tastes the
same, regardless of the bowl its served in. I don't disparage or
acclaim the WBO any more or any less than any of the other of boxing's
ranking organizations. As noted above, I didn't leave out the details
of the Golota fight on purpose to slight the WBO.



Now I'll have to find something else to do next Saturday night. =)

Wow, good news. It will be great to have some Light Heavyweight titles to go along with the Heavyweight belts. I just hope Vitale, or someone will get a chance and unify the title, so it will be the way it used to be.only then will a white champ be truly legit to the boxing and sports world, even though they probably won't be respected.
