He was sitting on their bench the whole time.</span>

Making his 12th straight
start since Tony Parker went out with a broken right hand
, Manu
Ginobili scored 28 points and added seven assists to lead San Antonio to
a 94-73 victory over the Boston Celtics on Sunday night
...
"Manu's been playing great for the last month. He's basically taken over
the team,"Â￾
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "He's been the same Manu
we've had when we won championships.
...
"We had a very, very slow start to the season, and we are paying for it
now,"Â￾
Ginobili said. "We should be five wins ahead of where we are."Â￾
...
He was coming off the bench this year until Parker broke his right hand
on March 6; since replacing him, Ginobili has averaged 24 points per
game.

...
"It was one of those nights we were awful,"Â￾ Boston coach Doc Rivers
said. "Ginobili dominated this game. He single-handedly was the will of
the game.
"Â￾

Maybe if he was the starter from the outset and wasn't "sitting on the bench", they wouldn't have had that slow start or be five games behind where they should be.

Manu has always been one of the great NBA players over the last 8 years or so.

One of the most gifted and underrated athlete I've seen in the last 8 years. Don't let the stats fool you, he's an ALL-TIME GREAT. When I compare him to past great whites, he's a near reincarnation of the great John Havlicek. Though not as great a scorer as Hondo, Manu does shares many interesting traits:

- Speed
- Quickness
- Determination
- Durability (reasonably)
- Hustle
- Professionalism (Starting or Subbing)

I know many might disagree, but I see a lot of Hondo in Manu. Edited by: j41181

This game is solid proof why Manu is a superstar and Hall of Famer:

43 points (13-25 FG's, 3-6 3pt's, 14-17 FT's)
6 rebounds
5 assists
1 steal

Spurs trash the Magic 112-100!

Another night and another stellar game from Manu. He torched the Lakers tonight for 32 points, 5 boards and 5 assists to go along with his good defense! This guy has found the fountain of youth. It's like he is 5-10 years younger again. He must be eating right like Steve Nash and just taking amazing care of his body. I love watching him play. He is almost impossible to stop one on one! He can take anyone off the dribble and if you play off him, he will make you pay with a three. Keep it up Manu. Go Spurs.

His insertion into the starting lineup, due to Tony Parker's injury, has coincided with the Spur's resurgence.

Manu is quietly having his best season ever at age 33. He is a starter this year and is averaging a career high in minutes and points per game. He is healthy and rested after last years early playoff exit and abstaining from international competition during the summer. If he keeps up his pace, he is a definite all-star this year.

Manu Ginobili is on course to reach the 10,000th (8,603 as of now) point plateau by season's end. He's averaging 21.5 points. It's quite impressive for someone who joined the NBA at age 25 (2002-03 season).

It's even better he's doing it for ONE team.

Time to bump this thread! Manu was one of my favorite players to watch on the hardwood. As mentioned above he had it all, plus I'm partial to Left Handed athletes! Here's to hoping he makes The Hall of Fame!
